I was bored and found a tutorial on rendering planets, so I decided to try my hand at it. I'm using the second one as a background on a widescreen laptop at the moment. Thoughts?

That's because it is. I mangled an existing image and desaturated it for a texture map as a proof-of-concept, not as a finished product.
