I'll answer that in two ways..
They won.. Because their most powerful ships were Eagles, and I know situations where three of those beasts can destroy a fleet, or three.
The official reasoning is because the GMG ambushed, then lured the RM into a gas nebula and the gas pockets killed off alot of the capship's hulls. Leaving little but fighters and battleships left. The battleships are ineffective against fighters, and were already hurt. The fighters weren't up to the Eagle's level, and the RM pilots didn't know how to fight in the gas pockets. Therefor GMG lead them in there and duly slaughtered them.
@Commodore: hehe, not so, beat you to it 2 months ago, as with the arch:(
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. A black hole in the centre of Puerto Rico would be pretty cool. Commodore, PM me later and we can see what we can do about what will be on the bases and how we can fill in all the empty sections.
