Without nomad bases, there is no purely RP way to do nomad players. Until these bases could be added I would suggest an expedient way, allowing them to dock at zoner bases only, or junker bases. Admins could hand pick the nomad players, and give them the ID without ever giving the nomad players admin access. If someone wanted to play an infested ship like Dab suggests, he or she could use a human ship, but carry a nomad ID-thus allowing that person to attack anyone and giving other players a practical way of knowing if a ship is infested and RPing around it. I don't fully understand the Phantom ID, its purpose, or the Phantom's relationship to the Nomads so I naturally think a real nomad ID would be better. Have the right ID for the character and you won't have any confusion about a character's RP, intentions and behaviors.

Granted, but I just saw the Phantom (full name is Phantom Terrorist [the enemy of almost all ID]) ID as the closest to being an enemy to all, without being an NPC faction like Xenos. Just use their tag, and Phantom Terrorist ID until/unless Nomad ID is unlocked.

Also, I was thinking the infested ships using normal IDs, as other factions can read it. I want it to have to be found out its infested (basically by Bs| the Order faction and dealt with by them) and keep the houses close to war that way as they cannot prove the fact that I'm infested unless they can get aboard the ship.

I guess the phantom ID would be an ok stand-in for the nomad ID, except that anyone on the server can access the Phantom one, whereas the Nomad one would be limited to whomever the admins choose. I guess I look for admin intervention and regulation to help prevent abuse of the concept. One would only want conscientious players doing the nomad roles, people who will equip their ships appropriately, and behave like nomads, not go for vengeance harrasment and other fun-killing actions. Allowing people to conceal their infested human ships with human IDs would further give people room to abuse the concept by blaming any random attacking they do on their 'nomad resident.' If you require some overt sign be placed on your infested ship of its true nature you encourage more people to play into your role while allowing uninterested parties to avoid the situation entirely.

Well I know the leaders of SF and RM, and I trust them not to abuse me being an infested Rheinland ship (not sure about fighter, gunboat, or cruiser yet.). I would more expect the two to make some good RP threads/stories/events out the thing. Plus they don't necessarily know I'm infested.

I'm not worried about you doing it Dab. I'm actually thinking of everyone else on the server, people who don't really read the forums. We could end up with a sea of people with Phantom IDs shooting anything that moves and claiming to be nomads.

Let me clarify something I should have earlier: there is a difference between the Nomad ID and any terrorist ID. Terrorists must demand money before attacking, a nomad ID'd player doesn't even have to demand money. Nomads shoot at humans without discrimination and without negotiation. Though I've never actually read it, I assume the Phantom ID requires its user to demand money before attacking, as do all other Terrorist IDs. So if a nomad player wanted to play as a true nomad with a phantom ID, he would have to break the ID rule about demanding money.

Your confusing pirate and terrorist ID. Pirate requires you to demand money before killing the other. Terrorist allows you to shoot on-sight and to kill.

Yea, the Phantom and Xenos ID's are different that the stock pirate ID's.

I dunno, I still think it would turn into too much of an old boys club, or a slagfest. I have a Marsflyer that runs around and makes marsflyer noises, and I've considered the idea of having infested ships, but never gotten around to it. I think the Nomads are better represented by the Existing NPC's, and by players roleplaying infested ships. The nomabs already have their battlefleets cruising around, but infested ships are lacking.

I think my confusion is due to a recent change in the ID description/rules:

"ID: Xenos (No tractor beam)

Allowed: Participate in military operations on unlawful side, hunt lawfuls and bounty hunters, attack anything in sight.

Not allowed: Trade on regular basis, ally with lawful forces, demand or tractor cargo.

Allowed ships: Fighters, Freighters, Gunboats"

I believe it USED to say that terrorists had to demand money before shooting. Ok so Xenos and other terrorists are allowed to shoot anything in sight, and aren't like pirates at all because they can't tractor or demand cargo (or money?) But by using a xeno or phantom ID while playing as a nomad, you still just look like a xeno or phantom flying a nomad ship...compound this issue with the fact that you will probably be flying with an odd affiliation tag and you see why the nomad ID is so necessary.

Again I ask, if the nomad ID is to be distributed by an admin, where is the danger of this being abused? Koolmo, "old boys club," I think I know what you are saying. You mean you are afraid of seeing all of the server elites/high-roller club being the nomad players exclusively, ganging together in packs and leaving their other characters to gather dust? (sorry, but I see Scythe doing this a little..glad to see Dab wanting to help the KNF out though...If all of us could play this server with that sort of eye for balance, PvP wouldn't be such a devisive issue here.) This is a genuine concern about the idea, and the solution to it is honest and forthright regulation of the nomads by admins and server rules.

I'd love to join the Order's side of things with this, myself. I have no idea what I'd fly, but, if it hasn't been obvious, I'm always ready to support the Order and their noble cause. Maybe when I defeat SP with Disco, I'll actually join the server.

Currently: Remastering Kiith Somtaaw's Acolyte Fighter. These Homeworld ships need some Sirius work done on them. ^.-

I really like Dab's Idea. Have a few characters that other lawful players must respond to as being lawful, but they are acctually nomads in Disguse/infected crew members. Lawful plays would have to watch out for people like this, cause they could be harmlessly flyign around and then they have given your position away to terrortiest and are attacking.

You could asume the nomads would do this if they were in Disguise. They ARE Sentient beings and they could sow confusion as part of the overall plan.
