I think that the game mentions that the Nomads where left there to protect Sirius while the Don Kavosh were away...

From what I known, the kraken is a maritime creature, not a criature that floats in the middle of the ether.
This idea is absurd and should be discarded. We already have the nomads who are living ships breed with a unique composition. They dont resemble crags, their structure is highly toxic and radioactive, why do you think their brains are regarded as contraband? Can you see space crags being regarded as contraband?

SF policeman: "Hey, you! You are carrying contraband."
Newbie: "Huh? contraband? Theres no nomad brain here, nor cardamine."
SF policeman: "You are carrying space crags. Drop the cargo now or prepare to face harsh consequences."
Newbie: "But my wife asked me to carry some crags for the dinner."
SF policeman: "Drop the cargo now or I will shot you."

Nomad Brains are a new one on me. I assume they were added with Discovery.

With that in mind, the Nomads have no trouble hijacking and inhabiting human bodies for extended periods of time. They aren't toxic or radioactive. The reason they're probably contraband is because THEY CAN GET IN YOUR HEAD!!!!

Currently: Remastering Kiith Somtaaw's Acolyte Fighter. These Homeworld ships need some Sirius work done on them. ^.-

And F Wolf, its CRABS not Crags.

Anyways, who said they had to be crabs?! They could be ANY sort of Creature you wanted. Remeber, its a Sci-Fi Game, where there is no Inertia and there is sound in space and all the sizes are so out of porprtion, a freelancer sized person could walk from one side of New York to the other in about ten minutes.

With those things in mind, say this. IN the world of Freelancer, Giant Space Monsters are plausible.

As well, they don't have to drop like crab meat or whatever. They could drop anything like '<Insert creture here> tooth' This could be something that is really valuable and only the super rich can afford it. Basically like a trophy from the kill.

Just use your Imagination and this idea works really great!

I'm really unsure you guys have ever played FL before. Honestly, this is f*cking stupid, gigantic space creatures? SPACE CRABS?!!?? KRAKEN? WTF? If you want crabs, go to the aquarium. Or watch a johhny depp movie, amounts to the same thing. This is Disco FREELANCER, not Disco Marine Biology.

Disco Marine Biology, you say...?

Digital Anvil! Quick, quick, get back together! Do I have a game for you!

=P

Anyways, someone said I couldn't forget the artifacts, what with them being a major commodity. Doesn't that kinda reduce their value...? If I could find a huge cache of artifacts, as in two or three planet's worth, and they are all the same thing, that kinda cheapens them...

But that's just my opinion.

I still say no to the almighty crab overlords.

Yours,
Harlequinn

Haha, at least you tried.

I dunno about a coalition faction either, i wouldn't mind it, but it really does favour us. I wouldn't say no to a coalition ID though;)

Although, thats not really fiar either, as the Phantom ID has proven clear.

I don't think anyone's seriously suggested that the space creatures be sentient, at all. The suggestion, from what I can tell, was that there be stellar wildlife.

I've mostly been speaking up to clarify what's being discussed here, instead of things degrading into everyone pre-judging what is being discussed, and saying 'no' when they really don't understand what's being said.

I'd prefer to avoid actually standing for either side on this subject. I just cite examples and clarify, as it seems people can't seem to understand what exactly is being suggested here.

Anyway, the Artifacts are a Corsair thing (seeing as it's Planet Crete's prime export). And, in all truth, most advanced travel technology has been stated as developed from Artifacts that Liberty excavated, and were the origins of Ageira being founded. So, really, there's Alien Artifacts in each and every Jump Gate and Trade Lane ring, presumably - or, at the very least, a device based on Don Kavosh technology (the black boxes). Granted, I may be mis-remembering what the Ageira personnel told me in-game...

I'm not pre-judging anything, space monsters of any variety are right out.
