Your buddy would be better off selling the swarm, they have been phased out of this version and probably do no damage.
There are 2 elements that the player version of the Nomad Fighter add over the original version which mess with its balance: the sheild and the torp mount. I don't know if the hull strength was modded when the sheilds were added but it would make sense to give it less hull because the original nomad ships had no sheilds. The torp mount made the nomad fighter a very dangerous machine back when the nova was a 500 m/s weapon, now you can put a mini razor on it (300 m/s) but not have much luck hitting fighters with it. So torp mounts are useless now unless you are hitting cap ships or mounting cruise disruptors.
I feel the guns and torp mount on the nomad ship are fine, however it should be hulled like a heavier mk2 light fighter or heavy fighter, perhaps around 7k-8k hull. It currently has 14800 hull, which is better than every VHF in the game-even the titan which is 13500. Another way to solve this problem is to leave the hull strength, or strengthen it some, and take off the sheild entirely.
Aye, now I think on it the Nomad fighter is a tad overpowered. It actually has a better turning circle than the Starflyer, with a the strongest hull of any VHF (except Werewolf). But I guess the lack of players flying Nomad means its power has slipped under the radar till now (as it were).
Pulling the shield off would nerf it too much. But definitely take the torp mount off.
Actually I find torps really useful, at least against NPCs.... they seem to be extremely effective against an enemy using the "back 'n smack" tactic, and even a Starkiller can often take down a target in one hit (with the shield down of course).
Correction: Your friend needs to get rid of that swarm asap. There is no torpedo mount on the Nomad Fighter, I have one. It has 3 class 10 gun slots and a DISRUPTER slot. No torpedo. Not one LF has a torpedo slot, Nomad included.
Well Dab, I logged into my Admin account on my server and loaded up a Nomad Fighter......your wrong. It has a Disrupter/Torp Slot. And yes i loaded the mod correctly, and no i'm not running any other mods. I'm using Discovery 4.82 right from your downloads section.
Personally my favorite thing to do is put two Mini Razors, four Solari chain guns, and two turrets of your choice on a Bomber. The chain guns don't even drain your core, so you can shoot all you want, and don't forget the two mini Razors.

Seems to be the general consensus. Not true.
TWO REASONS:
-Make up for poor firepower. Only three guns? Come on!
-No CM, no mines. Missiles are exceptionally useful against it.
And if your thinking that it slipped under the radar because no one used it, that's not true either (Onca). In the last version of the mod, the only thing less maneuverable than it was the Marsflyer (or a capship). And the Marsflyer was slower than a gunboat! Not only that, it had no CM, no mines, and a level 9 shield. There was NO way to get someone off your tail! Sure, it had a torpedo slot, but my Nomad was basically a flying torpedo launcher! A Nova Cannon with 3 Nomad Cannons attached to it. In short, I sold it rather quickly after being bested by, well, everyone.
Not saying don't ... rebalance it. Just saying some of your facts are wrong.:P
Virus your living in the past man.... According to the numbers Nomad has the best maneuverability of any ship in Disco, including Drake and Noobieflyer. I have flown one (on my LAN), and I tell you it's damn fast. It would have to be a very skillful player who gets in the sights of a Nomad fighter....
Actually, Scimitar and Wyrm have the same, if not more, agility than the Nomad fighter. I've tried all three, the Nomad on Disco, and the two others on Open SP.
Also, they can give real reasons for shield busters. Nomad ships don't have ANY reason for them, only for nomad weaponry. If anyone flies a Nomad fighter with any human weapon other than a disrupter, than they don't know role-play. Right now it has 1/3 the firepower of VHFs, which is why it has its armor and agility. Nothing needs changed.
