Right, exactly.
Whether they'd want to work with fractions or larger numbers is up to them, though.

this wont wipe out power traders, people will still want to make money to buy their cap8 BS.
What it will do though is take powertraders out of freelancer or indy trader ID's and put them in corporation ID's, carrying the relevant cargo for their corporation and open up alot more cargo runs that aren't profitable.
as has been said.

this has an effect on many more things, sirius works from the bottom up, traders being at the bottom.
the extra routes that will become possible would take traders all over sirus, hence, spreading pirates out more, and spreading the house police out more to capture those pirates, instead of both police and pirates piling up in one single system of the house.

another bonus, while people are seeing this as a great idea for the RP of traders, it also helps the RP of pirates. How often does a Farmers Alliance or LWB pilot get to pirate and RP with a synth food vessel carrying paste or food?
my guess is not often, i dont fly for those factions but my guess is that if you do, you're pvping with house military, and pirating counterfeit software since their real enemy's have been wiped out simply because their trade route is not profitable.
Lane hacker's similarly have defeated their enemy ageria, i rarely ever see gate/lane parts moving though sirius.

Gaians at least have a chance to RP and fight their political enemies, because they're opposing companies with high value commodities, Spa&Cruise with VIP's and Vacationers, and Planetform with Gaian wildlife and alien organisms.

so not only will any move to put more people in corporate traders decrease the amount of counterfeit software flying around, it'll help pirate factions RP, move people into the small ZOI pirate factions rather then outcasts and corsairs, hence more pirates in every house, more lawfulls in every house.

or i could be completely wrong, that's an option too

The absolute decrease in activity overall in Sigma-13 is proof of that. Basically traders (especially power traders and/or people with less time on their hands wanna make the most amount of cash in the shortest amount of time. They'll stick with the simplest/most profitable route, pirates come for traders, and as Rolyt stated so do the ones hunting for pirates, like the BHG lol cappers seen sitting around Yanagi.

Esentially, putting this massive factor into trder profit will almost force individuals to spread out to rediscover more effective means of making money.

Traders>Pirates>police/hunters = YAY!

While I initially like the idea, I'm not convinced its nessisary, or practical. I think there's a much better fix...

The economy itself involves commodities which are pointless. Outside help to make them pointful ignores the basic solution: Changing the economy itself.

The economy, right now, is very much a traffic control system, where you land on a base and are only given a few options where you can profitably go, and I consider that the major failure of this economy. I admit that much of my dislike of this idea comes from fear of being boiled slowly if any pressure is taken off of the basic problem...it'll make things better, but I don't believe in a worthwhile manner...faction ships, I suspect, may well find themselves in a worse predicament: that they've a handful, three or four, routes they can move along and recieve their bonus, and that only those routes will work for them.

I'm not at all conviced that this plugin idea will take less work than simply adjusting prices. Furthermore, I don't belive we -should- work within the current economic system. Its a base, of course, but it needs drastic expansion, not the application of artificial enhancements.

All and all, I think the problem can be much better addressed by striving to saturate the profitable traderotues across factions and their faction specific commodities.

ID based commodity purchase systems are too susceptible for abuse to be implemented.

Could you give us more information than that?

1) I equip the ID
2) I purchase the commodity at a discount
3 A.) I then employ a different ID to change the situation in one form or another.
3 B.) I then give the commodity I have purchased to another person and log my character out.

If you provide a variable condition which allows for an increase in performance persons will employ it illigitimately.

It's just the nature of cheating.

I suppose that is the unfortunate nature of selfinterested and uncaring people. Oh well.

What if we just make certain ships carry more of an appropriate cargo, then? Liners could carry more Human Cargo than anything else, ALG Mover could carry lots of toxic waste and scrap metal, Junker Salvager and CSV could carry lots of scrap. Stuff like that.

If thats the case, make it IFF based.

Thats alot harder than changing IDs...

Some mixture between IFF, the ID and the used ship would be best in my eyes. Would even iprove the factionizing.

Exapmle ALG: You earn most, if you would use the ID, the IFF and a Mover. If you use just the ID, the IFF and a generic transport or a Colossus, the profit lowes by a certain percentage.
