We were told, completely ooRP by admins I might add, to compromise and stuff, and our diplomat gave them an open slate on which to make an offer and they, ah, walked out on talks.
We'll be going back to harassing them and shooting hell out of them, a'ight?
thats hardly related to if you re fit for being official or not what you do with the zoners....
but from the zoners point of view - ( which are not yours... )
the items requested were unreasonable and could simply not be agreed on. - not without altering the whole idea of how the zoners review their faction. ( again, not how YOU want them to review their faction )
what you asked for was about as likely to be agreed on as if zoners went to the liberty goverment and said "look here, chaps - we will now invade you on a daily basis and harrass you cause you made us abandon our liberty effords.
we now ask that you will allow our 5k whales to reach manhattan with artifacts or we will keep harrassing you"
wouldn t happen, cannot happen - we could claim "but see, we gave you a choice" - and be happy with it - retending to be the victims of circumstances and misunderstood diplomats.
you will think of it differently - ... well, you ought to ... but you should not try to label yourself a victim of zoners that "walked out of the negotiations". we have spend quite some time to consider each possibility - thought through many settings and what-if scenarios - spent a lot more time than we should have dedicated to this. - and we came to a TEAM - decision that in order to preserve what we consider canon - we simply cannot agree to anything without altering the hardcoded lore of what we build up as zoners.
and for that matter - what the majority of zoners think of what means to be "zoners" weighs a lot more than what people who have no business with zoner lore thinks they "ought to be like".
edit:
for me there is only ONE thing that qualifies a faction on its way to becoming official - and that ONE characteristic it needs to achive is :
- to be beneficial for the server community and the overall gameplay
this one is to be reviewed and considered by the majority of those that care. ( which is usually the forum readers and those that interact with the faction ). a faction can be hostile to another faction - but hostility must happen on a basis of characters roleplay. - NOT on a level / basis of out of character dislike. everything else that an official faction presents is just cosmetics.
after all, no one will really care what zoi, ship restriction, nice little images, ranks or whatever else you have. - a faction must be a positive addition to the server. - if possible one that the majority of the players appreciates in an ooc way, even if they fight it.
They were given a blank slate to write their own suggestion. They didn't.
And how do you know I don't have a Zoner character, mm? And if you built it up, it is not hardcoded. Dum dee dum.
Also, Discovery changed the Zoners to something utterly alien from their vanilla character. We, the Privateers, followed that change to a logical conclusion. The Zoners, now that they have a planet with Corsairs on, no longer live in a vacuum, literally, or politically.
' Wrote:Now, back to the subject at hand: What do the Zoners have to offer us? Not necessarily monetarily, but what makes it more worthwhile for us to leave you be? We have offered peace to Zoner vessels, even when we would normally interdict another ship in the same situation, and we have said we would not take any 'blanket' bounty on Zoner vessels, no matter how lucrative . What have you to offer in return?
As always,
Edward Hawkins
The answer was, apparently, that they don't want to offer anything. Therefor, diplomacy is at an end, and there is no ceasefire. The Admin 'request' has been satisfied as well as we are able.

I think it was pretty obvious that the only thing that would have appeased (appeasement being a form of surrender, BTW) was to kick all the Corsairs off of Gran Canaria.
And Blunt, I'm not sure how you arrive to the conclusion that you are being punished. It doesn't make sense.
Blunt, this will sound funny coming from me but I like you for some reason, I'm just trying to understand you.
A pretty good proposal. Obviously some points still up for discussion, but it's well written and I've always gotten a good dose of humour from you lot when I've encountered you. That counts for a lot in my book.
As for the Omega-49 thing, I don't really mind, it's rare that we zoners have something regular to shoot at round that neck of the woods. Rest assured, once she launches, the ZS-Herculaneum will give you all a very warm welcome.

That's really not true. Nothing at all was offered, so how would you know what would appease us?
You seem to be under the misconception that everything on our initial proposal we intended to get. We didn't. Almost everything on there was just BS which we expected to get negotiated away, counter-proposals offered. That's kinda the way negotiations work. But no counter-proposal was offered other than 'we won't give you anything'.
And really, that's fine. We just want the Admins to notice that diplomacy was tried, and the QCP aren't the ones who left the table first.

So, you came to the table with invalid suggestions and then expected the CoZ to guess you were being serious and wanted the CoZ to come up with counter-proposals?
(Sounds like you are just covering yourself because you wanted the meetings to fail.)
