After all, your DIRECT fire weapons still become useless, so that means that the guy cloaking can't be shot. But indirect fire weapons - missiles - hey, how do you know that this wasn't planned in the first place? And congratulations, you've now found the inherent weakness of cloaks, that missiles can track.
I think that'd be about the perfect definition of irony, considering how people try to always one-up and overpower things ...
Well you forgot the weakness of Missles Agmen. One can use a jumphole/gate to jump into another system while cloaked and they can follow and when they follow into the new system they have to lock onto the target again in order to allow the CD to track it.... Oh wait it's cloaked YAY! I think ill stick to using cloaks near gates and holes for now thank you.
In any case if CD's and missiles can track then the cloak shouldn't take the CM slot because a Battleship can effectively Spam missiles at a cloaked cruiser to kill it so it's only fair that the cruiser has a means to counter the BS Missile spam given the fact that his shields are already down.
It's pointless to pay up cash for something that just gets rid of your CM slot and is effectively useless in terms of pvp so let the ships keep the CM slot and add a cloak slot so then at least your paying to have an extra option of trying to escape if all else fails even if (Judging by how I seen CD's can keep cloaked ships disrupted and how they can point out roughly where a cloaked ship is) is somewhere between slim and no chance.

Why? Feature was designed to force people to pick and choose. You can't have it all. You either get an invisible cruiser or a missile-resistant one.
meh, some of you just want full protection against blue messages that cloak gives while soloing aginst a party or more powerful enemy without cloaks. dont blame game code if you cant lead battle into your prefered way.
Until a developer comes along and says otherwise, you should all assume this is a bug because it hasn't clearly been said that this is an intended feature.
P.S: And I doubt they'd make it so obscure as well.

you run out of fuel on a bomber until you jump on the other side

By getting a cloak your just making your ship more vulnerable to attack seems a bit of a waste to spend 400mio on something that makes it easier to kill your ship
