I am really appreciating this huge commondation!
Now that we are more active in space and have met quiet a few people out there, I'd like to hear some feedback from them too!
Let us know what we are doing, and how we can improve!
After reading through all of this mess that is this thread, I can only apologise to the folks of IAF that I had to dissappear for a couple of weeks for university assessment (which is still ongoing) and as such wasn't able to step in and try to stop this great.... debate on whether you can use IMG ships or not..
I do have a couple of wuestions about this group, if I can ask them. I know it's a bit late, but I am a bit intrigued about what answers you will return.
Firstly, from what I can tell myself the IMG is a group that does do a couple of shady things. Probably the most noticable one is that we secretly (unknown to lawfuls) harbour/allow pirates and smugglers onto select IMG stations for supplies and fuel - pretty much our freeports. This is mainly to boost revenue to compete against the house mining corps. As much as we would like to think we are better than the rest, inRP IMG mining operations are in fact less efficient than BMM, or Daumann, or Kruger..
Being a group or section of the IMG, and knowing that the guild (arguably) harbours slavers on some of their bases (as lets face it - slavers don't just smuggle slaves, but other goods too), how would the IAF operate without hampering a part of IMG revenue that is keeping some stations afloat? Selective interdiction? Isolated interdiction? or something even less... effective whilst pretending to be working throughout Sirius?
Second, while we have some points similar to the Zoner faction (some stations being 'freeports" is an obvious one), the two entities are quite different, and I beleive that an anti-slavery group/section of the IMG will need more than just morals or ethics to do what they would do..
What sort of history or link does the IAF or IAF members have to slavery or the slave trade, and why are they so willing to risk their lives trying to stop it, rather than peacefully shooting roids in some backwater system?
Finally, What tactics does the IAF use to counter the endless flow of the slave trade, and how are they progressing with it. Do they use guerilla tactics, hit and run, or just sit on the other side of jump holes and trounce slavers that way? Your answer to this question will ultimately effect some suggestions of mine about fleet composition.
With a bit of thinking all of these question are answerable in a manner that's favourable to your group. Why I'm asking them is that many of the IMG fractions I find popping up aren't quite on a wavelength that is generally accepted by the comunity as current IMG RP. As you have seen here, fleet/ship composition and sustainability is one of the biggest issues normally seen - to the point where you may have to rethink what you beleive is a conservative setup..
Like Beck, I am interested in what the IAF entails and would genuinely like to see how they fare, but I can feel that there are some niggling flaws that I myself cannot find or have an immediate answer for. Sometimes time is the best method to determine and solve these issues.
P.S. I was going to add a nice little message to you CR folks, and was actually half way through writing it before deleting it all. Why did I stop? Because I don't want this thread becoming thoroughly singed and scorched again. (EDIT: and I nearly did it again.. second delete, and second attempt to cool things down) There is reason though, why the IMG| defence wing mainly consists of RTs, spatials and rocs, and it's not because of popular vote. Play nice now and share, like we have been doing ever since the new IMG line came out.

I was planning to contact you myself via Skype, but I am pretty tied up with university stuff myself at the moment so hadn't really been able to until now, will do that soon though.

Although we stop some kinds of contraband (namely three) we are hardly what one would call a 'lawful' force. We have our own interests and we push them forward wuiete agressive. We are more than willing to work with unlawfuls as long as they don't belong to the Outcast camp or pirate our supply ships, miners and traders who supply IMGs bases. We are aware of the vanilla relatons of IMG to the Hessians and Mollies and won't take any steps against them, we even have established friendly relations with the RHA already.
We also are much more agressive towards those competitors of the IMG, who pushed IMG more and more into the border and edgeworlds, meaning we will actively try to hamper their effords and push them back when we can. By force if we must.
Being a group or section of the IMG, and knowing that the guild (arguably) harbours slavers on some of their bases (as lets face it - slavers don't just smuggle slaves, but other goods too), how would the IAF operate without hampering a part of IMG revenue that is keeping some stations afloat? We are aware of that, it is kind of the same issue we had in the ZAS. Being zoners, while knowing that slavers can find refuge on Freeports and having the huge chopshop in Omicron 74 next door. It was and still is, a balance act on a rope, between the dark and light side. We always have to watch out not to fall to the one side or the other and we must choose our friends and foes very carefully.
Whom we interdict? Everybody hauling slaves or cardamine (the reason why slaves are brought to Malta)will at least be stopped and questioned. Everything else will go from that point. Generally, we offer all slavers the possibility to land on Falkland and release their 'passengers' there (they even make some profit by doing that) and if they refuse or simply ignore us, things get messy.
The only other type of contraband we do actually stop is Black Market munitions, which will be confiscated to forward our own effords

Most of our current members (players) have moved over to the IAF from the Zoners Abolishing Slavery, and brought their characters (which weren't all born Zoners) with them. Those characters all have some kind of reason to hate slavery and have much experience in fighting slavers too.
The other members....well, some are in for the money (they get paid) while others see the economical aspect. The IAF doesn't only frees slaves, they also rehabilitate/retrain those who have no families to return to and turn them into a cheap and effective (because greateful) workforce. We also work with the GMG and the Hessians regarding this matter, who use similar methods.
Finally, What tactics does the IAF use to counter the endless flow of the slave trade, and how are they progressing with it. Do they use guerilla tactics, hit and run, or just sit on the other side of jump holes and trounce slavers that way? We usually don't just camp jumpholes and wait for slavers to pop up. I had that in ZAS too and its just boring. Instead we patrol Systems and RP while doing so. We scan traders, talk to them and scare pirates away. We also have much fun in RPing between-character relations and let them develop. We arn't out there to get the highest kill count on slavers, but to have a platform for our RP.
Basically we do the following things:
- Patrol for smugglers and keep our area of operation safe for our allies
- Conduct hit and run strikes on corporation installation and ships (mainly Daumann and BMM)
- Trading and mining, and of course keeping our personnel safe while doing so
Speaking of platforms, we are perfectly aware of what a powder-keg the Taus are and in what situation the IMG is, not trying to be overrun by the Outcasts on the one and the Corporations on the other side. This is the reason we chose the capital ships we (want to) have as our in RP homes and bases. We currently use Dounby station in Orkney to dock to satisfy game mechanics, because its a pretty deserted System and we can still RP to use those caps as bases.

Our faction still is in an early stage of development and we still need to find and fortify our place in the discoverse, and of course our ideas may have flaws or we might do something wrong. This is exactely the reason why this thread exists, we want input and ideas, feedback from people who have interacted with us and so on.
All advice and critics are tken into consideration and are discussed and we are always happy when we get more input.

I hope that answers most of your questions and helps to understand us better. I'll also send you a PM with my skype for further discussions.
Well you'd get along with the LRF (We absolutely dispise Slavers and will raid them given any opportunity.;) ), i like where this is going and look foward to seeing it in action sometime.;)
