I'm kinda still stuck to one third of the cargo.
But I tend to round it up now.
Especially if enemies are after me.

From what I saw, I tend to pirate in the same place i mine.
I just do it from other side. Corsair is a pirate, and Kishiro is a miner.

But what happened? Well, when I go to mine, I have been requested to drop my full ore twice now. Because Bretonians or Mollys are after me. So that's cool because we're enemies.

But when I do same with my Corsair, it seems it's a problem, because... apparently.. corsairs have no enemies and do not want to rule?:D

Liberty pirates in Rheinland are Rheinlands problem
Liberty pirates in Kusari are Kusari's problem..
aaand etc..

see, here's the deal. If Liberty affiliated miners start hanging out in Kusari space and pirating ore, I think all non Kusari miners will be forbidden from entrance to Kusari. I see it as an aftermath of all the pirating around.
Besides, it's not miners who transport the ore, so Kusari should still receive their ore like that.
But bottom line is that all things will have aftermath. I am glad miners can demand ore, its called piracy and LN will finally have things to do.
Besides, don't forget to "accidentally" destroy the ore you lawful forces, if the Miner does not want to donate to the cause:D

I have been mining for a few days now and am enjoying it. You get mixed reactions from different affiliations. For example, if several IMG ships are already there when you arrive, they will regard you with a sort of indifference, making you feel slightly unwelcome, which makes me keep my distance. If there are fellow green DSE miners they are friendly and helpful, and will occasionally ask you to join their convoy. I find trading in convoys is a lot more fun.
I think I have fallen victim to these miner pirates in Kusari. At the time I was outraged and just plain infuriated. But now I can see I could have taken precautions to stop the whole mess from escalating how it did.
I still think mining deserves the higher profit, though. It is a time-consuming and high-risk operation. It wasn't easy to get a mining ship, as I had to sit for hours and hours with next to no yield until I could save up enough for the appropriate ship and equipment. Now that I am set, I can start to pay escorts properly. I can see why these prices are so high, now. You're supposed to spend a chunk of it on protection, bringing it down to more reasonable profits.
It's a system that discourages greed, from my perspective.

(Sorry if I rambled this is my first post out of my Welcome thread)

Aye aye, sounds like it. (To the above)

All i say is don't complain about miners pirating you. Get a gang of miners that you know and trust, work together.
Space isn't a nice place y'know. The majority of the time there's a fight going on somewhere in it, why not in the mining fields?

One point controversial maybe but....

We need more pirates!!! I mean, trading has gone down a lot, we see a bunch of miners do the same thing all over, now a new POWERMINING!!!

And i mean, we need more pirates, real pirates, not ships with no IFF and Miner ID.

I like the mining system, but somethings gets to me in bad form, one thing is the Narita station beeing the best place to sell for some ores. It should be all across Sirius. Look where almost all convoys head, Narita. Than this new breed of "pirates" + Kusari (wich was one of the most unpopulated house) is bad.

Just some thoughts, not a rant. I mean, well kind.

Search is you friend. But only on weekends, 9:00 - 9:47.

I have asked, though, and I have gotten some confirmation that the mining system is a work in progress, and additional selling points are being looked at. Key words on the mining guide: Work in Progress.

Thats just answers one of my points.

The other is are we leting all these new rich pilots many lulwutters get so rich to get BSs? Even the miner pirates are thinking about the same. Look at the current economy, just look. In one day you can get rich. And i always thought that there was a learning curve, now no curve, just the abyss.

In a few weeks, or not so far, we are gonna have so much problems....Look at the ABYSS!!!

I would have to say as a trader I like the way the system is shaping up.

I went on my normal run into Liberty, and by chance heard some miners yelling out for buyers for their ore.

I negotiated a price, bought some ore and shipped it back with escorts.

Buying 'direct' from the primary producer brought a sense of dynamic economy for me - especially when I tried it again when things were quiet and I couldnt barter the same price!

The level of interaction was far superior to a fly-by 'Konnichiwa' to other traders, followed by ten seconds on a planet or base with a faceless merchant...

I have had a mixed experience of the mining in Penn over the last few days.

Sadly only one real enjoyable encounter while I pirated a miner who had an escort and we had some good RP.

Unfortunately the majority of people mining seem to be purely there to make as much money as possible and have no interest in anybody but themselves. Typical example 2 days ago 7 mining ships within 10k of each other. Turn up in my pirate bomber and think 'I will give it a go but this could get messy'

Amazingly 3 of the miners pay up, no problem! Bear in mind most of them have 2 or 3 mining turrets and the rest 'real guns' Next one completely ignores me to the point where I blow him up! Not a peep out of him, or anyone else, but he just turned up again 10 minutes later and continued mining. Next guy, definite lack of English, eventually responds after taking a few hits to say ' me pay you why!' 'how many?' *sighs* Finally at this point an IMG turns up and gets stuck in to defend the miner.

The sad thing is that if they had all went 'Hold on a minute' from the start and teamed up I would have had my behind served to me pretty damn quick and no doubt made a hasty retreat. As it was I made 6m and had some target practice and went on my way

Sad to say I decided against paying Penn a visit today

I have to say my initial reaction was hooray for the mining mod it will open up some many possibilities for teamwork and great RP. My worry now is that people are just using it as a quick way to make shed loads of money and with no interaction with anyone else, if they can avoid it :nono:
