//Okay, I didn't want to post this yet, considering I didn't believe it was ready. However, with the posting of another faction based off the same principle, it seems my hand has been forced.

Hispanians: Outcast Pirate Faction.
"Hispanians" are an idealistic group of Outcasts who wanted to reach out to the Corsair Empire in an attempt to unite the two rival Houses to advance the goals of both in Sirius. They were met only by a small group of open-minded Corsairs. However, the vast majority of Corsairs did not view any attempt at reconciliation to be wise, thinking these Outcasts were up to something. The Council of Dons ejected these "traitors" from the Nation of Malta, and hunted down as many of them as could be found. They now live in exile in the harsh Omicron systems, their only option being hitting the Outcasts' smugglers for supplies of their needed Cardamine.

Q&A:
Q: It says in Vanilla that these two groups are mortal enemies. Don't you think that what you're talking about is OoRP?
A: "Of course they are mortal enemies. That's why these Hispanians live in exile from their homes. As soon as the Council of Dons was aware of what they were trying to do, they were declared enemies of the state! That said, it would be OoRP for the Corsairs and Outcasts to ever be friends. But it's not OoRP for individuals within the groups to try and make it so for the common good of both groups."

Q: Council of Dons? Don't you mean Ministers?
A: They were called the Council of Dons at the time this faction's true origins took place. The Council of Dons didn't dissolve until 817 A.S., while the events detailed in this history would have occured 40 years ago.

Q: Won't this require Outcasts and Corsairs to retcon a bunch of stuff?
A: No. After all, once they were presumed dead, neither group would have paid them much note.

Q: Doesn't Discovery have enough Outcast factions? Why do we need another?
A: "Outcasts are one of the most, if not the most, numerous factions in terms of player base. But to call us 'Outcasts' is far from the truth. Yes, we're Maltese. But we're no more Outcasts than the Xenos are Liberty Rogues or Navy."

Q: How are you getting those Outcast ships if the Outcasts hate you?
A: "They're Border World ships, made in partnership between Outcasts and Zoners according to Vanilla lore. Some we still have since before we were exiled, some we're getting from the Zoners, in-RP."

Q: But how are you going to get them, game-mechanic-wise?
A: "In 4.84, Xenos would fly all the way out to Omicron Theta to get their Eagles. Where we buy them to satisfy game mechanics is ultimately of little concern."

Q: Where do you get your funding?
A: The Esperansas. They're Cardamine addicts, and ruthless. We're their only source for Cardamine, and they're our main source for money. We don't need as much funding as other factions do, as instead of funding Carriers and Battleships, our largest vessels are a Gunboat and a Yacht.

Q: Why do you have a Tridente? Isn't that the official lolwut gunship?
A: It was the only gunship that fit. There were originally two, that served as escorts for our Yacht, the Nuevo Hispania. They were named Malta and Crete... symbolic names for the unification of the Hispanian peoples. The Crete was destroyed in the battle that occurred when the Outcast-funded mercenaries attacked the Hispanians, but the Nuevo Hispania and the Malta escaped.

Brief historical summary:
A group of Outcast alternative thinkers meet together, including a couple Outcast captains and a wealthy landowner. They secretly contact a group of Corsair youths who were becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the Corsair way of life, and eventually agree to meet in person on Freeport Nine in Omicron Theta. The force consisted of the Yacht Nuevo Hispania, and the gunboats they referred to as La Malta and La Crete. While they're gone, the Dons discover that they sympathized with the Corsairs, and set up an ambush at the Beta/Alpha jump hole. They also placed an absurdly high bounty on key individuals, prompting a mercenary group to set up an attack in Omicron Beta-- before the Outcast trap. The mercenaries were surprised at the ferocity and numbers of Hispanians-- more than they had expected. The La Crete and many Hispanian fighters were destroyed, but not before the mercenary company had been destroyed-- all except for a severely damaged fighter. The Hispanians told this fighter to go and claim the bounty on all of them, and vanished into space. It was in this way that the Hispanians feigned the Dons into believing they had been destroyed forever. In actuality, the Hispanians had been setting up a base of operations in a remote, irradiated system behind an unstable jump hole. Later, the Hispanians would reveal themselves by carefully ambushing a lone Sabre on patrol, and having him sit still while they talked to the pilot. They also used a modified cruise disruptor missile to attach a recorded message on a small holopad. Now the Dons know of the Hispanians once more-- and the Hispanians feel they can now operate more freely than before they had a base of operations.

' Wrote:The whole Outcast/Corsair war is something ridiculous invented by the Discovery Community. Originally the only fights between the Corsairs and Outcasts were territorial disputes - there was no venomous hatred. It was all business.

That particular nugget of lore can be found in numerous news articles. In particular the one that is speculating on whether or not the Outcasts and Corsairs are descended from the Hispania.

So... The Tridente is a new-build, but the group has existed for 40 years? Howzat work?

Sorry for the tone, but I generally only have patience for one Outcast/Corsair/Hispanic thread in any short length of time. Unfortunately the other one beat you to it.

this does make sense in vanilla there was a bar rumor thing that said that there was no real reason for conflict between corsairs and outcasts other than territory and that they would be fairly amicable when not in space this appears to have been lost in the time since vanilla but you say the faction origins are from before even the time of vanilla so yeah i like this idea alot!

EDIT:could the corsair shiplines be included say using a corsair GB to fill in for the destroyed one? maybe put something in about how a few likeminded corsairs helped replace the losses from the escape from alpha. helps the whole unity thing i think

Well, it wouldn't necessarily be a Tridente. But it would be some sort of gunship. If someone wants to model a 'retro' Tridente, that would be awesome.

And yes, the other one beat me to the post, but I've been working on this idea for weeks. Curse my slow, methodological approach, and trying to make the best possible first impression!

No. This is an Outcast faction of Outcasts. Sabres and Titans in the same faction is big no-no. Corsairs would be the Esperansas.

That ain't the story. That's the cliffnotes of the story. I didn't want to post our faction write-up until the full story was written, but it seems, again, my hand has been forced.

Well, I for one approve of this. With the climate in the Outcast and Corsair 'houses', there's bound to be SOME opposition to the current state of affairs. Given that previous attempts at such have been random lolwuts, this may spur a bit more depth in Outcast internal politics. Not to mention putting your base in the Sigmas will bring some sorely needed activity.

One suggestion: You may want to, aside from the usual stuff, try to peacefully preach Hispanian unity to whoever will listen, and dissuade conflict in general (assuming you don't do this already.)

Diplomacy wise, I speak for the Consortium. We're not going to go out of our way to attack you as long as our transports and allies (GC + Dragons) are let be. We wouldn't gain anything from it.

All that begins must end.
