Diplomacy is his sole duty as the current ranking officer available. He is to consult you but that means he is still free to make his own choices.... And don't pull rank, even though I just said you have rank don't use it as the excuse to go through with your actions even if he says no. I encourage you to work together. But Denelo, Flyer has been working with this sort of thing before you were even here in Discovery let him handle it. Remember I do read the forums and am still in command just less active...
ooc: Denelo, Tank told me (In RL) that I was to inform you of faction changes and such, while going to war, any major decisions, we would make as a joint command. I'm glad you're following orders, and you're a great leader, but think about it, HF would suck if the commanders had to talk about everything. Denelo, you're free to do the same. Anything that you feel is not a major issue, make the decision yourself. I trust you to make decisions about recruits and the like. Remember, when Tank or I are not in-game, you are the ranking HF in-game. You make the decisions. However, I do appreciate the request to open fire at the SA back at the conflict.

If we wanted to, you would find that we would have some VERY good reasons for war:
1. The South Alliance gunboat LNS Shiloh entered Vespucci, claiming to be "just looking", at about 1600 hours GST on the 17th of April.
2. The Legion Battleship HFB Silverstorm orders the LNS Shiloh to leave the system.
3. The Shiloh refuses to leave at first, so the Silverstorm attempts to fire a warning shot away from the Shiloh.
Warning shot backfires into main fusion power generator, power goes offline.
3. The LNS Shiloh leaves Vespucci, but sits outside the Jump Hole.
4. The South Alliance Battleship LNS Missouri, joined by the Shiloh, enters Vespucci and opens fire on the defenseless and disabled (OOC: afk) Silverstorm in it's own system.
5. The Missouri badly damages and nearly destroys (ooc: aka, kills once) the Silverstorm IN IT'S OWN SYSTEM DURING A CEASE FIRE, you know, where both sides SIGN A TREATY NOT TO SHOOT AT EACH OTHER, injuring several crew members. Somehow, the entire crew managed to survive the massive explosions.

6. Nusseton declares a REQUEST FOR WAR against the Legion.

7. The Missouri and Shiloh raid Phoenix Shipyards, stealing valuable secret weapons plans and badly damaging one of the Shipyards.

Well, I agree that we avoid war if possible. However, this cannot go unpunished, and I have not seen even a mention of the Weapons Plans that Nusseton stole as a common thief by any except for me. And that Declaration of Requested War does not lean to the South Alliance's favor...
The crimes are great, and, in my opinion, the only ways to re-pay us for them is to pay for losses, return the plans, and forcefully eject Nusseton, or my other option (see below costs chart).
Current loss costs:
Repair or the Silverstorm: 20 million credits
Repair of Phoenix Shipyards: 70 million credits and rising (Phoenix's repair is not quite complete yet)
Danger Pay for the Endangered Solders: 10 million
Payment for Injured Crew Members lost time from their lives: 5 million
For Time lost from the construction of our new fighter: 30 million
Advantage lost by the fact that we are developing secret weapons becoming known to the world (And thus, our enemies, the SSO and SCRA): 100 million
OR a second demotion for Nusseton and a payment of 500 million.
And before you yell at us in outrage, remember that you forced my brother's small mercenary group to come up with 300 MILLION CREDITS in 2 DAYS just because someone HACKED INTO THEIR CHANNELS! And YES I know about that, so don't try to pretend that it didn't happen, because neither my brother OR Executive Commander Kaine is a lier.

It seems this has sunk into a morass of unintelligible ruminations from those not even harmed by the sad incident. The South Alliance has attempted to heal the harm done, but it seems futile. Our position has been stated several times and we have even gone beyond "the Pale" to rectify the incident by offering levies not even imagined. Overall, the Hellfire Legion must make a decision for the South Alliance stands by its last proposal.

Realizing the gravity of this situation the South Alliance agrees upon all of the HellFire Legion demands, to a degree.
1. A public apology is in order, however, it shall be by me due to the fact I am ultimately responsible for my troopers actions.
2. Admiral Nusston has been reprimanded and demoted from Fleet Admiral to Admiral.
3. The commander of the Shiloh bears no onus for these actions for they fall upon his commanding officers, i.e. Me and Admiral Nusston.
4. Compensation is in order, however, 400 million is not acceptable for 2 main reasons;
A) repair of your vessel was quick and complete for it has been seen on patrols. Due to such, I feel 20 million should suffice to cover all repair bills.
B) The Lane hackers are pirates and it was their facilities damaged, where as, the HF at least fight for ideals and are viewed as a political entity. The Hackers will receive nothing but the fate of all pirates, "A short rope and sudden stop."
Overall, the South Alliance is not heartless towards the suffering of the Hellfire Legion and are willing to propose an additional levy upon ourselves;
1. Provide Mr. Thastus a forum to petition Liberty for grievances and pardon.
2. Propose the South Alliance will not enter Vespucci unless at War.
3. Propose that HF will not be engaged within Magellan unless fired upon.
