tl;dr, +1 and all that.

Perhaps you should look up the term Generic, since you're so 'intelligent'. Then maybe you'll understand what a Generic ID is used for.

FYI, Civilian ID is no longer a beginners ID, as the level cap on using it was removed. People can choose to roleplay as civilians as much as they want.

I'd like to break down the divide between Dev work and the community a bit.

Take a gander over at Freeworlds. While something as open as that probably wouldn't work here with our lovely community (it would be like dry grass in a firestorm), some hints here and there are always nice.

You guys didn't read my post, if you did, you would see that I use game mechanics to prove my points as well as the actual definitions of words. The examples I used can be in game examples, which is exactly why I used them. If you cannot come up with anything besides, I don't want that to be true so it's not, then please don't reply.

The word generic has no bearing on the debate at hand. It is simply a label applied to differentiate between the generic pirate and all the other pirate factions during conversation. It changes nothing in regards to whether it is a faction or not.

I know the Civillian ID is no longer just the begainers ID, I stated that.

Your post is as relevant as the fact that my pillowcase has flowers. (Perhaps the fact that my pillowcase has flowers is more relevant, but thus besides the point.)

Your post does not respond to mine. (It apparently does not respond to anyone's post from the responses I see.)

Well, your conclusion that civilians act as part of a greater civilian faction just highlights how much you are ignoring what is in front of you.

You essentially are saying everyone playing a Molly is in the Molly faction. Which is correct.
They are not in the [MR] faction however.

If someone were to break the [MR] faction's rules but not the Molly factions, they are fine.

If they break both, well, those are usually server rules like OORP etc. They be sanshuned.

What was the point of that incredibly long post?

In Discovery, Factions are usually referred to in the context of Player Factions like the [MR], not the NPC factions or any other kind.
Independents are the ones belonging the NPC faction but not a player faction.

That is the Discovery definition, no matter what kind of real life definition there is.

In one of my original posts, I stated that this game is about the factions and thier relations with each other, and made some points based on this assertion. A group of people stated that this isn't true, as not every player is in a faction. And since not every player is in a faction, the rest of my post was meaningless as well. That post was my last attempt to show them, that regardless of the fact that they call themselves independents, they belong to a faction. I wasn't trying to state that everybody was in a player faction, only that they were in a faction of one type or another. They seem to think that because they are called independents that they don't belong to a faction, faction role-play shouldn't apply to them, and that they have no ties to factions. That isn't true by game mechanics, it isn't true by game definitions, it isn't true by straight english definitions, and logic certainly proved them false.

I didn't answer your post, there were to many asking about what I did respond to. Give me one example of a player faction using up more of your spare time than an independent, and I'll answer. I've shown how it doesn't, you show how it does. You don't even make sense in the next part where you state you only have to follow an ID and non-player factions role-play, not a factions. You have to role-play your faction or you are breaking the rules. That's pretty straight forward.

I didn't state that they were exactly the same. But comparitively speaking, yes, npc factions and thier corresponding player factions are veryclose. In general the player factions are the logical next step of the npc factions. And why would players join player factions? That is what we have been trying to figure out, ways to get them to join, because there aren't enough perks compared to the drawbacks.

I haven't complained once about being killed on this thread, and I haven't heard to many others complain about it either. I have heard quite afew complain about capspam and ooc violations, but not to many about getting killed. And finally, you stated you had 35 characters and a high amount of cruisers said something sarcastic and then asked if you are part of the problem. Then yes, you are part of the problem. If the ships you fly the majority of the time are capital ships, yes, you are part of the problem.

Come on Nooblet, we must pack up our bags and leave. We're both in violation of the official roleplaying-guidelines from Strom, a reasonably new forum-goer who is not a member of the Adminstrators faction.

In order to stay and abide by these official guidelines, I must strap myself into a small ship, because capital ships are inherently wrong and strange in a universe filled with them. Perhaps I can join the Freelancer faction and fly around by myself, work for myself, stamp out all thoughts of being independent and follow unwritten and unknown guidelines on how to act as a freelancer faction member (wouldn't want to be in violation of the unwritten yet official guidelines!).

Who here are members of the Roleplay-Extremist faction?
