A man appears on the screen. He is rather nondescript, with brown hair and a round face. He wears a basic business suit. He's sitting at a chair in a generic DSE conference room, the hologram logo visible on the wall behind his head. He is smiling.
"First of all, employees, merry Christmas." He stops smiling. "Second of all, my name is Aliester Brown. I am the vice president of the company you are employed in - Deep Space Engineering. More specifically, I was. I am now the president." He pauses for a moment and looks down at his hands, fingers intertwined. He glances back up after a second, an odd expression on his face. "Our previous president, Lars Johansen, has gone missing since the company crash during the Tremont Operation, phase 4... Investigation is underway."
His eyes glance down at the table again, and he pushes a piece of paper with the side of his hand. "I'm taking charge of Deep Space Engineering now. And..." He glances back up for a second at the camera, and then looks back down at the paper. "... given that the company did crash, I'm not sure how many of you employees have simply left us for dead, or how many of you have retained your employment. Given that, I'm going to be requiring anyone who still considers his or her self a part of this company to sign in on this channel, giving your name, owned ships, and contact details. The latter is simply because we might not have all our old information on file, due to a recent hack that may or may not be involved with the company crash."
He sighs and leans back in the chair, letting his left hand rest on the paper, while the right hand slips to his lap. "I'm hoping that we still have a workforce. I'm positive that we can make a comeback. I hear Ageira's getting on its legs again too - that gives us ample opportunity to recover from the devastation we experienced during the mining operations at Tremont and the subsequent mining out of the Platinum Dust, along with the exhaustion of the Silver Ore in the Wilkes-Baare field - both decades ahead of any predications. I... we, DSE, we have eight-hundred million credits in the bank, two and a half barges - last I checked - and at least a good portion of whatever spacefleet we had."
"In short? It's enough to make a comeback, ladies and gentlemen."
"Enough, that is, if I have your help. You have two weeks until we purge all old files."
"Honey, you have to push that black... Oh it's on? *Clears throat* Hello Mr... umm.. *glances back* Brown. Happy Holidays to you as well. I... We are still considered a part of this company. My name is George Rolf by the way, and this here is my, err, wife Liz."
A woman steps into the light of the communications array and smiles.
"As for our ship... *He gestures around* This is the Williamson. She is a Rhino Freighter, although I'm getting quite close to buying a Mammoth Liberty Transport. Maybe even hiring a couple of crew members if the credits allow. Well... Good luck with the company... So I'm sitting here in my 'temporary' quarters on Pittsburgh, and a guy drops off this disc, I chuck it in, and here you are. I guess I'm still an employee, even though I've been told to stay on this rock until my transfer papers are 'found'!
I'm starting to think they've been deliberately lost, just to punish me for some unexplained wrong I've done the company!
In any case, I'm still here, and don't forget about me damnit!

Brown comes onscreen again, an old coffee mug on the table in front of him. A brown stain is visible on the inside. He looks a bit tired. "Thank you for the response, gentlemen that have responded. I'm glad to know that we have at least a small workforce that's still loyal."
He absentmindedly rotates the mug a little so that he can't see the handle. "Keep in mind that the company does not sanction any planned flights for now - you can continue old contracts if you wish, but our main purpose is reassembling and reconstructing at the moment. I don't require anything of anyone here other than their name and ship... for now, at least. Reassignments and tasks will come later. For now, I just need to see who's still on board."

Brown appears on the screen again, without the mug this time. He looks somewhat more well rested. "I'm rebroadcasting on this channel in case any employees missed the first time. Heaven knows we need more..." This last sentence was muttered half to himself.

Not dead. Or left DSE for dead. Do have one (slightly knocked up) Starflier to hand. The cargo hold hatch has a habit of jamming, for a start. And it tends to cant to the right when in movement. And the forward thruster causes the ship to jump about madly for half a second before it goes forwards. I've not risked putting it into reverse lately. And there is stuffing coming out the side of the pilot's seat. And a warning siren goes off whenever it gets wet, so I have to avoid ice fields. And planets on rainy days. But it works. Mostly.

Hello! I am not lost in space or anything, and have recently done some trade runs and Security sweeps, so to answer your question: Yes I am still active. I am in space a lot now, after I got my ships fixed.
