Depending on the receptiveness to RP the target player is, this should be do-able now. Role play = win.

this would be awesome to an extent, but still actually impossible to DO,

a way it could almost work is if there were different kinds of marines (liberty, rouge, bretonian, etc) and placing them in the same ship as each other would cause them to perish at random intervals, to give the impression an actual battle is going on onboard the desired ship.

having different kinds of marines would also be cool, but again, this is a form of severe powergaming, since you cant take over the controls of sombody elses ship youd have to be telling them what to do all the time, which with friends is just about doable, with strangers? no no no no no

It would be fantastic to be able to do things like this. It'd really help along some of my current RP. I just don't expect it.

Having different types of marines would be somewhat what i planned with this..

some types of marines would for example be:

Pirate buccaner
Liberty C.A.W.
Rheinland soldier
Kusari samurai
Bretonian beefeater

last two beeing jokes for you who didnt get it,

Real ones:

Kusari warrior or something
Bretonian Military personnel

One thing that could help to forward making cash while rping was if they cost medium at a base in the house they are sold in, sells for little in houses the house they are from has no interest in and sells for alot in the houses the owning house are at war with.

but i think this has been proposed before without much success so trolls, dont try to roast me for it.

*Clicks on enemy battleship from my boarding craft*

/b /board <amount of men to send>

Sending only a maximum number of 50 marines over in one go, (so you cant just dump 300 troops into the enemy ship), it would have to check if the target is capable of being boarded and still has shields. if either one isnt true it should do nothing and give you an error

ERR- target cannot be boarded
ERR- targets shields still active

There should be a chance to resist being boarded, this could be used from 10% of the totall marines aboard your ship, (these would actually be in the dock) if the number of marines in the dock is greater than the amount of marines trying to board then there is a greater chance your ability to repel the attempt will be successfull. which will result in the loss of a few marines from the hostile force, 10% of the ammount you tried to send over, meaning you send over a small amount first to get a foothold in the dock (probably working out 10% of the totall enemy force, and then if its not reppelled you can send in more to attempt a take over the entire ship.

ERR- Target Repelled your boarding attempt
OK- Target was successfully boarded

If the boarding was successful and the person being boarded loses all of their marines then

<name> has been captured by <name>

a blue message would appear indicating the ship was defeated, this player then falls into the 4hours rule of none return, maybe even longer for being successfully boarded.

then you have to wonder what would happen after the boarding if it was successfull.

A successfully Boarded ship has:
no Cruise/Impulse Engine control
no Weapon control

A successful Boarding Party can:
Take anything from the ships hold using /p /pillage <commodity> <amount>
(cant think of anything else)

this would be total ownage. id love it

EDIT:

you also have to think about how close you need to be to do this, Id say 500m

ERR- Target out of range

also, you shouldnt be going any faster than impusle speeds while trying to board sombody

ERR- Exceeding boarding speed

Oh, I can see it already, transports "getting" any battleship like that. That's ... uncool. I think that's really possible just between friends a planned scenario. I mean, there's too many "If" "But" "What if" "When" "How" ...

i know theres a lot of ifs and what not, but I dont see how the traders would "get" the battleship, if they start trying to board the battleship that counts as an attack and the battleship can defend itself.. *pop goes the weasle*

and the transports would have to survive the entire duration of the capturing process, which would take a damn long time for a battleship, especially if they had specific powerfull marines that can only be bought in their corosponding guard system, like "BAF Guard Marines" these would be more powerful than your standard lackys and so even if they outnumbered you you could still save your ship from capture.

it is possible between friends, but this just opens another door to future rollplays between strangers.
