I wasn't even there and it still scares the h-fuel out of me.
I had no idea the admins had that degree of on-the-fly power to alter ingame mechanics.
I also have to agree with a comment I saw elsewhere wondering what happens to LPI/LN characters during an event like this?
I would like to point out that the LN probably ought to spend more time fighting Rheinland and less time patrolling NY, and that an LPI presence in other Lib systems would be (REALLY) nice....
But all the same this seems like an inconvenient and extreme way to get such results.
Not complaining really, just curious if theres a way to get the same results without totally locking down a major transit/trade/command/culture hub.
What if the LN/LPI drafted a 'loitering law' for NY to reduce traffic?
It would stipulate that anyone caught 'hovering/loitering' in NY would be subject to arrest and fine.
Of course unlawfuls wouldn't really care much, but it would force people who just 'hang out' (I too am guilty of this) to go loiter somewhere else, like at a Freeport, or better yet to go get involved in some good RP.

Yes... where did my post go? seems someone moved or deleted it.
Regardless, yes it is good to get out of NY, however.. this method of doing it, makes it near impossible for the LPI to do. We'd be stuck in only one system, since only the jumpholes connect us to the others if the gates are turned off.
As for a loitering law.. that wont go over well. I've had traders freak out and yell sanction because I tried to give them a 5 credit parking fine for parking in front of manhattan.
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
I say Bretonia looks lovely this time of year....
Anyhow I suspect the reason people clump in NY is because they do.
That may sound like a 4-year-old's logic at first, but let me elaborate;
People play a game online in order to play with/against something besides the CPU.
People don't get that experience if they're playing online with others but only ever run into CPU players.
Hence when a little bit of clumping starts everyone becomes exponentially more attracted to this 'herd' the larger it grows.
It would probably help to alleviate it if smaller clumps could be established in other house capital systems and at Freeports.
I think its inevitable that players will congregate in certain spots, it would just be nice for that to be more spread out, not just "party in NY wooo!"
