She ignored the knocking at the door and sat on the floor as she clutched the sides of her head with her hand. As she sat trying to collect herself, she heard music....but where was it coming from? Her face still wet, she then looked over to where the toy was sitting beside her. It was singing. She just stared at it before she finally picked it up. With her elbows on her knees, she held it in front of her as it continued to sing. She wiped her face and studied the toy even further, even managing a weak smile.
She got back to her feet about the time Rhonda found her.
"Are you OK, Girl?" she asked as she place her hands on her shoulders, standing before her?
Doreen just nodded and forced a smile.
"Honey, if you need the rest of the night off..." Rhonda continued.
"No, I'll be fine I think. I just need a few minutes," Doreen interrupted.
She took a step away, "I just don't want people knowing my past, especially some stranger."
"Doreen, it's OK," Rhonda said re-assuringly, looking into her face with a face of concern, "you're going through a lot. It's not easy! But you will be fine, I know you will." Rhonda paused to let her words sink in and then tugged at her arm, "C'mon. Let's go back out there together."
Doreen agreed and together they returned to the lounge. Doreen's face was a bit red but she had put herself back together fairly well, putting the toy in her pocket. The guard, noticing she was OK, relaxed and resumed with a drink of his juice.
Just before Rhonda brought Chris' food to him, Doreen scribbled a note on the back of a guest check, "Thank you. That was very sweet of you." She then resumed her duties with another large drink order.
Chris would still be uneasy watching the guard before Doreen followed by the other lady who he'd not have had the chance to hear her name uttered stepped out of the room she went into haven't of seen the after effect left on her eyes he was still paying a little more attention to the guard oddly enough he was calming down but Christopher never did deeming it safe to watch his text again enjoying it as he read having music in as well to cut out the sound of the outside world.
He'd be caught off guard as the soup arrived but not showing it as he gave a little smile towards the woman paying the check as soon as he go it before taking a bite he'd sniff it to make sure it is what it is being, satisfied he'd be about to eat some before seeing the back of the check. 'Thanky you. That was very sweet of you.' He'd look up at Doreen nodding slightly with a little smile that soon disappearing as if some one had just kicked him in the chest seeing a tiny bit of what was left over from her crying his face looking a little sad as he tried to go through his mind what had happened, just as quickly he'd remember the toy. putting a finger to his mouth as if saying he'll stay silent he'd nod slightly close his eyes until his head came back up, finally starting to try calm his stomach down it barking as if a cub. still listening to the music and reading the PDA book. 'City of bones'.
"She ignored me...well, I can bet who was crying."
"Who?"
"The girl over there...the one taking that freaking huge order."
Jeremy glanced over. It was the main waitress or whatever her title was.
"Hmm...well, it has something to do with Chris."
"Go talk to him!"
"No, Izzy. I'll let him break the ice."
"C'mon Jer, just go!"
"No! He has the right to give me the cold shoulder."
"If you dont, I will!"
"Izzy, don-"
Izzy got up and walked purposly over to Chris. Jeremy started to slid down under the table. He honestly thought this wasnt going to go well.
When Izzy got to the table, she tapped Chris softly on the shoulder and said very politley, "Hi, I'm Izzy. I beleive you know my boyfriend Jeremy Hunter?"
By this time, Jeremy was looking at the table, nose touching, his face shocked and mortified.
"Where the heck is a waitress when you need her...I'm going to kill her one day...oh my god, why is she so reckless like me!
Jeremy glanced up, his face mortifed and full of shock and a sliver of fear.
Chris looked the woman over taking no real interest in the what she said acknowledging Jeremy's existence giving a slight nod as he glaceed in his direction turning back to his book from what Izzy could see he was only maybe seventeen to twenty and him being fairly quiet except for when his AI had appeared. He'd almost look at Izzy angrily a sound of annoyance in his voice."Don't touch me."He would still be defensive from the looks that guard had given him more being in a hostile state. to him it was always fear that was the main weakness of everybody some times you couldn't see it but he could always smell it, like some lady who had poured on there perfume like it was a shower. He turned back reading his book as he spoke still having his head phones in as he tapped on the table. "What do you want?" would be the words he uttered before he put more of the cold meat soup into his mouth
Jeremy nodded back, his look even more mortified and horrified.
Izzy stared at Chris without flinching. AI Namine popped onto the Table between the two.
"Iz, the man wants to be left alone..."
"Namine-"
"Izzy, for the love of Jeremy, your embarassing him! He got in trouble, and the last thing he needs is his girlfriend annoying one of his old superiors!"
Izzy looked slightly harrased, but said one last thing to Chris.
"Jeremy says hi."
Izzy returned to her seat and leaned against Jeremy.
"Dont say it."
"I told you."
"You are so lucky."
Jeremy kissed Izzy's cheek and grinned.
"Do me a favor...Never annoy Chris. Ever. Or interrupt, or disturb, or anything. I took care when speaking to him. Trust me. When he is in a better mood, he actually is a real great guy...something must be bothering him."
The two sipped the soda Jeremy had ordered. Jeremy struck up a conversation with Izzy so she wouldnt glance at Chris. Namine sighed and disappeared, probably back to the Nephthys fighter of Jeremy or Kei's Apartment.

Doreen finished her next large drink order as Rhonda walked off with the tray balanced on her hand as she headed off to serve it. She then motioned for the guard to come over, which he did, handing him another glass of juice.
"Leave him be, Grolsch," she said softly looking over towards the stranger, "he meant me now harm." The guard nodded, held up his glass and grinned as he headed back to the doorway. She then called over another waitress, "I'm taking my break." She poured herself a soda and putting on her best smile, she took a glance at the stranger as she casually walked out of the bar.
She had a favorite spot to sit away from the crowd just down the corridor and around the corner. A small table with a chair sat before a large window. It was quiet and she liked it. She looked around and found herself alone. Her nerves on edge and her cravings unbearable, she lit her first cigarette in over a week. Quitting was going to be harder than she thought.
She inhaled that first big drag, holding it deep in her chest before she finally exhaled it a few seconds later. It felt good....but she knew she had slipped. Sitting at the table, she placed the cigarette in an ashtray while she took a drink of her soda, staring off into the stars, listening to the singing of the toy she had received earlier.
Chris sat there having watched the guard move over to Doreen as he was still watching him, he only glaceed at them a few times quickly from the PDA before he watched her move off out of his sight. He'd continue to read his book turning up his music as the sounds behind him were as clear as crystal over the music, he preferred his voice was the only one in his head right now

She eventually returned behind the bar, satisfied but somewhat guilty that she had broken her one week smokeless streak. Again, she began serving so as to finish the last couple of hours of her shift. As she did, Rhonda came up to her to tell her something, getting close to her face only to stand back a little.
"Doreen," she said in a tone of disgust, "you were smoking. You were doing so good too."
Doreen only sighed, "Yeah I know. Nerves again. I'll see Dr. Tenaka tomorrow about it."
Rhonda then smiled a bit and whispered in her ear as Doreen poured, "I think he likes you," insinuating the man who gave her the toy.
Doreen shrugged, "Well, that's nice. I'm just not wanting a relationship anytime soon. Besides, it's the first time I've seen him before."
With that, Rhonda left to make her rounds to include another round for Chris and Jeremy.
For Doreen, it was getting late and fatigue was setting in. She just wanted to finish shift, get to her quarters, loosen up, take care of her son and get some sleep herself. As that time grew closer, she was growing visibly more uncomfortable as her body knew feeding time was getting close. She would finally leave with an arm over her chest, he leather overcoat obscuring the sight slightly as she quietly walked out and into the restricted part of the ship where crew quarters were.
As for the rest of the lounge, it was the usual buzz. The baby grand piano on a small stage was getting prepped for an evening pianist.
Izzy and Jeremy accepted the drinks and continued thier conversation.
"Well, why would they do nothing?"
"I dont know, and that is whats freaking me out..."
The two sighed. Namine appeared again.
"Return to Minor Hunter. After your done you can come back."
Jeremy groaned and kissed Izzy. They held thier embrace for ten seconds.
"your chapstick tastes like cherry."
"Ha ha. Now go and protect the human race."
Jeremy grinned, jumped up, kissed Izzy's forhead, left the waitress a tip, and an out. He launched his Nephthys and passed by the window, did a few aerobatics, then shot off to where the jump-capable but weaponless Respeph Ghost Eye sat, waiting to get him to Minor before returning to Evora.
The Ghost Eye jumped, leaving a sapphire sparkle that Izzy stared at. She contiuned her drink as AI Hope appeared to replace Namine.
"Well, too bad...Hows Ellie and the Orion?"
"Just popped into Alpha for a sec. A Storta moved in, but they learned the hard way."
"Nice."
Chris would now be laying cross the table out like a light as he slept his body visibly tence as his eyes darted around under his eye lids. Most of the time his dreams would be of the people who he had killed personally and they haunted him in his sleeping state never giving him a moment of relaxed sleep. his PDA would have shut down It being inaccessible as the sound pounding from the head phones were easily heard. 'Linkin Park - Pushing me away (Reanimation)' it was the only thing that offered solitude to him was the sound of the music not having to deal with hearing there sounds and their screams as his dreams continues.
