Something that wasn't covered...
The whole "ghost" slant could be an elaborate deception used by the crews to instil fear, and there is actually no supernatural aspect to them whatsoever!

Just because there's ships flying around does NOT mean people have to automatically believe that ghosts are responsible. I'd think most people wouldn't be so quick to believe the theatrics of such vessels.

That was covered. The faction has it listed already; They are -real- ghosts, not people pretending to be ghosts. Several people in this thread already suggested to them to change their roleplay to humans portraying ghosts, but were denied... This faction wants to be REAL ghosts, and that's where the problems start.

I don't mind.

In fact I'm sure I'll be adding crewmembers.

...

I'm speaking about how we would take it in-RP, Dab.

Not about what is actually true or false.

I am considering changing our stance to not being real ghosts but crazy ppl who think they are ghosts, but im not sure where that would leave the whole rp feature

I've been following this for a while. I'm not truly impressed, but I am willing to give them their chance, provided they don't screw it up or make asses of themselves. I'll just have to start carrying around a pineal amulet more often.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go sprinkle holy apple juice on my ship to ward off evil spirits.

EDIT: Widow, you ninja'd me while I was posting. I'm glad to see that you're willing to adjust your RP. I'd go along with that. You can still RP the same in-game, and it'll be easier for many around you to swallow.

I was thinking along these lines about potential backgrounds.

Given that Corsairs all need to fly unshielded into that one cloud and you're RPing as Corsairs, what if the idea is that they're all pilots who took much longer than expected and were all but thought dead. In a sense, when they returned, they're ghost like, but it would also show they're rather tough or lucky. That would make a good combination for very dangerous missions.

Then, of course, you could keep telling people that you're ghosts, and they may be scared. Meanwhile, the other Corsairs would be laughing at your enemies for buying into it.

Or something like that.

Now, i've read through every page of this, and i think that, like many people have said, Daam K'vosh could come into this.
Think to the show 'Red Dwarf'.
Arnold Rimmer, taken from wikipedia-
"As a "soft-light" hologram, Rimmer retains his memories and physical appearance, but is composed of light and has no tangible form (other than a small "light bee" projection unit when away from Red Dwarf)."
And as a hard-light hologram-
"In series VI, he encounters a being known as Legion, who upgrades Rimmer's projection unit from "soft light" to "hard light", giving him a physical form and the ability to interact directly with the world, in addition to making him virtually indestructible. To conserve power (more of which is required for Rimmer's hard-light hologram) he normally uses soft light, only switching to hard light when necessary."

I'm thinking, since the corsairs harvest artifacts:

A corsair on his trial, flies into the cloud. He does not make it. His ship is dashed on an unknown object, and he goes flying through the cockpit into space. As he is dying, a small purple shard of crystal, dislodged from the object, cuts his arm. The blood of this corsair activates the programming within the shard, which copies the memories and form of this corsair, and vibrating at the speed of light, forms a semi-solid form of the corsair. Drawing other shards from the object with a psychic presence, not-unlike the nomad mindshare, the shard replicates the corsair's ship, and, obtaining an intelligence from this corsair, realises it needs to get more 'ghosts' if you will, to survive as a whole. It does this by 'harvesting souls' or, killing people and releasing a shard into space to scan and compose it's body. This could also be done to ships, taking a scan of the ship and replicating it. These ghosts require energy to keep themselves 'alive', and as such, are constantly replicating to find extra sources of energy. This energy could be derived from alien artefacts, or maybe from the suns of systems, like nomads, or from remains of human ships.

This is, imo, perfectly plausable. As most daam k'vosh artifacts are shrouded in mystery as to their origin and purpose, the daam k'vosh may have created an artifact to simulate giant fleets or armies, to scare off potential enemies, or may be a failed experiment the daam k'vosh did to make the guardians they needed.

What i'm saying is what was told to me by someone regarding nomad RP. "If it isn't already set out, make it up yourself. But always keep it within some sembalance of reality."

The man has a good point.
Or two. Or three.

Etc.

It is said that as a writer, you can fix any plot hole with liberal application of magic.
Artifacts are essentially the same, but they make a bit more sense.

Exactly! Artifacts solve everything. Because of the Daam k'vosh nature, you can paste an artifact into almost any action you want. See that thing in my sig? It's got an artifact in it. (just kidding, but it might.)
