' Wrote:Hello.

I have been playing discovery for a few weeks and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I have been searching the forums to try and find out how one acquires a guard ID. I haven't found anything of any help yet . If I have missed it, could you please point in the right direction, or give me a link.

We're glad to hear you're having fun. However, please don't ignore what these other guys are saying. The problem that many people have when they come here is that they go - I have made some money, now I want to buy a big cap ship. Perhaps that's because you couldn't fly them in the original single player, perhaps it's because some of them look cool, perhaps it's because you think they're going to be great.

I can truthfully say that cap ships are not what they ought to be, as far as truly being unstoppable beasts of war. Two competent bomber pilots and most caps are toast. It may take them a while, but they can and will take you out. Throw in the role-play that's required for many cap ships, and it leads to a lot of frustration for new players. You've already noticed that Special Role-Play requests are REQUIRED for certain ships. That's the nature of our universe here.

We do truly prize role-play over strictly PvP here. That's one of the reasons we continue to grow. (PvP is a part of role-play, but not - for most of us - the actual end we're trying to reach.) Over the course of an average day, we'll see around 4 - 5,000 seperate log-ins. And most days we see less than 100 player deaths due to PvP.

I recommend that you continue to RP with the smaller ships for a while - get a bigger trader and build up a bankroll. Because you'll find that when you DO purchase that cap-ship - you're going to want expensive weapons for it, expensive armor for it, and money goes pretty quickly. Many of us who buy ships like this have bankrolls available in excess of 1 billion credits - which is needed, because the money goes pretty darn quickly.

Nice one Agmen

And please dont buy any cap ship. Buy a gunboat and try RPing in it

Any Ideas for a relatively free cruiser that can lurk in liberty?

My general advice for capital ships is - keep them out of Liberty/Minor/Alpha/Gamma.

But if you're really that determined to wander around New York in a cap then I'd suggest a Liberty lawful one, namely Liberty Navy. Actually, scrap that. They have enough caps already. Any unlawful caps will get shot down faster than flies in Liberty, especially New York most of the time.

Take your chances.

Jesus, no more Liberty capships. Is that too hard to understand? Get a bomber and take care of those flying roaches.

Thanks to MikeyH for the banner.

I have better chances when taking on a liberty navy or similar cap-ship, in my own cruiser, than by myself in a bomber.

there are more cap-ships than there are fighters in the navy, so I think I'll avoid one of those.

I'm going to get an outcast cruiser, as the Outcast's have many homes it seems, you can find them in the Tau, sigma, liberty, omega, omicron and kusari space, and wherever they aren't they have some close friends. I have also only seen one or two of these ships in my few weeks of flying around sirius.

Just working on the Outcast guard ID now. Is the only way to become more freindly with the Outcast guards to do missions for the normal outcasts, because this is taking me ages. must have spent 3 hours on it today, and I'm only neutral so far.

I acknowledge what you say, I Understand and am glad of the RP system. I have a large transport, a large bankroll, a huge fleet of fighters and 3 gunboats. Even with all this, I will wait a while before I purchase my cap-ship as you say.
