Do ships have to look nice?

Look at the cars on good old earth.
How many cars were ugly back then and yet some people bought them.

Although I agree to have the talon being replaced.

• Havoc mkII - So we got F15's for space? Just to low detailed model. Cockpit WHAHA!
  
• Orca - To low detailed and doesn't fit the rest of the BHG ships.
  
• Hacker Gunship - Doesn't fit the rest of the hacker ships
  
• Rheinland Pirate Cruiser - ah noo an other star wars ship... I was wrong about the Talon. Vidar looks more detailed then this.
  

I suppose I missed some but uh...
I thought we Discovery wanted to be unique so why do we have Star Wars ships and Homeworld ships?
But I'm not saying it for the looks but for the amount of details these things have.

ships like the spatial or the ravens talon are popular - its harder to replace popular ships, no matter if they re imports or not.

about why some models don t get in - most of the time:

- they are not uploaded! - how can something be included when its not uploaded... have you uploaded ( emailed ) your ship to igiss, tycho? if not - how the heck is it supposed to be included or even considered?

- the quality is really BAD. - a tube with wings doesn t make a ship. proportions and shape needs to at least meet a minimum standard in terms of good looks - and while good looks are subjective entirely.... there are still a few characteristics that can be applied to a ships / models looks. - some ships simply don t meet those.

- sometimes the model doesn t match the idea of the ship ( like turning a plump ship into a skinny one, just cause we all know that skinny ships are much harder to hit ) - when the shape alters the balance that much - one is hesitant to include them.



on a sidenote:

- there has been ONE revision of the juggernaut - and that was the change from the CIS droid army star frigate ( star wars ) to the model we got now.

its now around 2.5 years later ... the roleplay of the ship as a colony ship is established - and it might get a facelift. - hardly "a bazillion juggernauts" - innit? ( unless the terms to be a bazillion have changed in the past years )

really makes me wonder what game you guys are playing. - mind you, there have been a few personalized juggernauts - wich a HUGE "not for disco" tag about them in the past months - so what... sometimes a modellers is proud of his work, even if its not going to be included.

* Civilian Freighter - why not simply remove that one? its not like its used very much
* Garanchou - ugly - but after 2 model suggestions with usually mostly positive but also negative voices, i don t really know how its supposed to be like - imo... delete it
* X-Shuttle - made a suggestion - people said "i like it as it is .. just retexture it" - well... go ahead, retexture it....
* Touketsu - no idea what ship that is...
* Saishi - when i made a suggestion, it was said that someone else had it covered - so i cancelled my project
* Civilian_Shuttle - no idea what ship that is
* Tiger_Shark - its a CUSTOM ship made for disco by legenation!
* Ki - when i made a suggestion, it was said that someone else had it covered - so i cancelled my project
* Havoc mkII - again - its a CUSTOM ship made by legenation for disco!
* Orca - presented a replacement, but i daresay i cannot really find a justification to replace it other than "looks" which isn t good enough
* Hacker Gunship - a custom ship for disco by dude
* Rheinland Pirate Cruiser - i m sorry, i consider that ship totally redundant. pirates cannot pirate in cruisers - and hessians vs. corsairs isn t really a major point of focus either, nor is rheinland. - furthermore... since its based on the hessian cruiser.... its AoM who needs to make replacements, cause its HIS design idea.

I like how people bitch about how some models get remodelled while others are ignored... yes, because the modellers are paid professionals who only work on what they're told to work on...

Seriously, go and ask the modellers nicely, it's their time, they do what they like, stop complaining already! Life is to short!

How about we just remove, yeah really delete the Homeworld Ships and Ships with really low Quality like Havoc, Tiger Shark...meaning Ships made by Legeonation and Dude42. Not wanting to be mean, it's just that those Ships show a bad Quality.

There would be free Space for new and better Ships...and People wouldn't bitch about not replacing bad Ships.

I happen to love the Spatial, but I never fly it because its just so freakin easy to SNAC...
The Raven's Talon on the other hand, I could watch them obliterate it from the server and I wouldn't turn a blind eye. I just plain don't like it. A remodel for it would be -really- nice.


And for everyone else who complains about the devs and modelers, take it somewhere else, I came here to read suggestions and such, not listen to your childish rants and fights.

Reason they aint been replaced? no it isnt because of what jinx said about them being popular. The M21 OC dessie (ex homeworld ship) was popular and it got replaced

Its because there are more things than ships to concentrate on for this mod version. Every mod version prior to this one has been a silly ship pack nothing more its boring and aweful and insults FL modding as a whole.

Keep yer traps shut and just wait to see what else you get.... right now imports are minor priority they can be replaced with ease later on.

I'll start off by saying that as much as you're trying to defend Jinx, and the rest of the dev team - you're wrong, Seth. No, the modelers don't get paid for what they do, nor anyone else in the development team. But they willingly joined such a team, and made some commitments. They are volunteers, and volunteers do stuff for other people without whining about it. They can work on their personal projects, that's fine, but they also have to listen to the feedback they get from the rest of the dev team and the community.

Yes, that includes Jinx, Gurjiv, AoM, Doom, Lohingren and the rest. And as far as I know, the dev team has priorities, and those currently are custom station models and replacing imports and ships that don't exactly fit in Discovery. You're being too subjective when you're saying you won't replace a model because of 'popularity' issues. I mean, the Catamaran was a pretty popular ship, yet it got replaced. So that's not exactly a valid reason.

Now you listed those ships, and it's all cool and stuff. You don't even know what you're talking about.

The Tigershark, Havoc, Virage and Hacker Gunboat are custom ships made for Discovery, yes, but it doesn't mean they fit in this mod. Also, the ships that are 'not used so much', well maybe because people don't like flying such horrible looking imports (since you were talking about quality). And your Orca revision, I agree that it should be put in, since it resembles the rest of the BHG line. You made it, and now you're saying 'looks' aren't enough to revise a ship?
