No seriously down to business I might be zonked out tired but here comes my 2 cents which will end in a wall of text as all my posts do so hold your breath wait an hour and enjoy.
What is Good RP what is Bad RP. You can't really pin that definition down because we all think differently so don't even try it will just lead to another debate.
In my honest opinion from what I have seen I don't believe we should have Furries at all I mean not for what u think though ( YOU FURRY BASHIN Humanist girl with enough long blonde hair you could put into a pony tail and pretend you are some stranged animal) I don't think in anyway shape or form they are justifiable... to me if you think they exist well you know what they don't no seriously they don't come back to me when you have a STORY have done at least SOME RESEARCH into A.Discovery B. REAL LIFE C. WIKI.
In this arena this science fiction arena were spaceships actually fly there is the human race as far as we know we have even managed to get so far as to make robots wow ingenious arent we smart cookies. We also have the Nomads they seem to be our only alien factor. I mean in theory we could go the whole hog like star trek or doctor who but Freelancer never seemed to jump on the same train as them its pretty restricted but this is discovery RP we are the people we decide what is in an out. apart from god aka Igiss. Going by a science fiction genre we could bring in aliens you would need a back story making it all justifiable and relevant including a history and a culture No not willing to go to those lengths well get out of here right now I won't accept half assed RP on that scale Im sorry I just won't.
Were I find the end of the line in our little RP Arena is most definitely
1.Magic 2.Werewolves 3.Vampires(no they are coming we are almost Freelancer twilight on drugs just wait we arent that original things that happen happen again an again an again) 4.Wizards 5.Dragons 6. Magical creatures 7. Animal people 8. UBER CHARACTERS
Now looking at my little line up I just picked out the major ones to shoot them down point 1-7 these are themes that all belong under SCI FI FANTASY I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I READ BOOKS:)both genres but i prefer fantasy. Long story short this is sci fi you just cant go desecrating the world with things that shouldnt be it ruins all RP. e.g.:DI shot you with my laser beam your dead No son I have my magical tunic of resist everything +8 I live and now dies with my staff of Magic your backside.
On what seems to be the most topic the FURRY ISSUE: Furries shouldnt be because i cant see a justfiable means to pull your ANIME into this real world for starters the human race isnt dumb enough to screw with its on DNA code and Animals secondly we are not compatible I don't have a fancy doctors degree or science degree to know that.:PI am not about to get pregnant to a cat dog horse or YOU! anytime soon Human genetics say I would A kill myself first B. It wont actually work the building blocks just won't happen both sides will die you will be back to nothing an square one.
To come out screaming I am CAT an I am a super soldier isnt cool A. because a human cat mix wouldnt improve the human code it would destroy it you are likely to get a gray blob on the floor the end result will never be anything humanoid with ears an a tale and super speed wont happen why BECAUSE I AM HUMAN AN I CAN RUN FASTER THAN MY CAT SO MERR! Just because it jumps a fence and Im not good at climbing doesnt make it faster than me speed shot down super abilities shot down another uber character layed to scrap.
Yet you know I am not gonna knock you, You Rp what ever you want you can make me feel as awkward an wierded out as you please your imagination is a part of you an you should explore your imagination as far as it goes though i advise you do not always share it ( I dont want to hear about twisted things involving animals and closed doors) Though I say this if you are going to RP it try an make it as subtle as possible rp it as true to your character and display it all through your characters actions to OOC an OORP it just ruins story reading or chat having to read a ton of irrelevant words that mean nothing to me because i cant act on them anyway. Come forward with a long story a justifiable story a researched story but I think it was as saraw said dont give a half baked corny rp line of God did it, I got pregnat with an alien baby(Actually i still dont think that is quite possible:Done of us would die ), I am a genetic screw up, scientists did it to make a super soldier, scientists did it for kicks an giggles, Scientists did it because they can etc That sort of thing is were one must call stop it ruins rp the quality of RP the enjoyment for others even all of these things could be explored an made into stories properly but the point is its all been done before and just WHY.
:Dnow here is were I open myself to be flamed and tortured "Please don't hurt the girl I will be good" I will sit you down an give an example because I am not entirely free of having slight RP strange flavoured tea. My characters Lafiel Tarrant and Sophia tarrant at one stage almost drowned on cambridge (yea were all the wierd things happen an O wait farms too) after almost dieing an eventually being rescued an drinking in river water they contracted an unknown virus a foreign alien virus that effectively got into their dna works and had a little fun but while rewriting the dna an having fun it covered its tracks but making the dna identical to their original DNA. The end result is you have two young ladies that have an increased immune system and have permanently stopped aging at the age of 21 their physical characteristics have been changed e.g. Lafiel weighs about a quarter of a normal human being while is slightly telepathic in the sense she feels some of the emotions around her in a way that its like increasing your reaction to someones emotional display making you sensitive . Her strengh has been reduced as well as her mind being rendered in a state of being permanently innocent she is sometimes overly calm or gets scared like a child so when you think about it I am adding in flaws to her not increasing abilities except for an immune system built like a tank an the ability to watch time go by forever youthful. When I RP this you would all be none the wiser to you all it would be like Hey look its that annoying brat of a lil girl who pretends to be a countess or look its the countess the young lady who is so kind and generous. Nobody picks up any traits of what she is her father went so far as to make the team that worked on her an her sister vanish mysteriously some say for fear that his daughters would be turned into science experiments. He even went so far as to put memory blocks in their heads to make it so they didnt remember the river incident or that Sophia was even family till much later when they had grown up. I also have a 6 or 7 page story to back all of this up yes i love my writing you probably dont need to do it as much as me but the point stands this is truely harmless I never had any intent to bring in something OMG WHAT or to create UBER DEITY characters as far as I can see anything that has come into contact with them it hasnt ruined their RP or my RP.
Now I might have just made myself look like the biggest hypocrite in the world please do say if i just did:D but I think there must be at least a level of RP I dont care if you wana RP things that dont fit so long as you dont ruin my RP or make me feel uncomfortable an as long as you have a big long hard list of facts justifications that everyone could go Hey there you know I think i can see how that works in this scii fi setting I might not really like it but hey alright it is operational an it isnt just a smart alex done before worn out reason as to why.:Dnow go away an come back with 6 pages of story and a list of 10 things making this possible hehe. I mean really you have more likeliness of the australians gettin to discovery sirius than you have furry's at the moment change my opinion I challenege you come and change my opinion.
Ok You can tell im too tired to sum it up properly so Im just gonna leave my massiave ramblings an hope to hell it made this craziness worse.

At this point I've already said my piece and am just enjoying myself poking holes in various individuals' counter-arguments. I'm being sadistic and slightly jerkish this week. I promise I'm not usually like this.
After all of this arguing... I will say this....It is just choice on what we RP about...and it is choice if others want to RP with the character that we create...
If you don't want to be involved in the RP of a certain type...then don't....its all just choice...I say that this discussion be closed....

Yeah, well, half of what I'm saying is actually based off a skype conversation quite some time ago. I really don't care about his opinion, problem is he says all of this without fully understanding the RP of what he's criticizing.
Oh. M'kay. If it's any consolation, I don't think anyone has a problem with Project X (with the exception, perhaps, of the aforementioned subject of your Skype conversation). I quite like him. The furries with little rhyme or reason, however, leave me somewhat miffed. Buddum tish.
If they can explain just how exactly Starfox and Mrs. Panther came about, I would more openly accept them. To this degree, you have performed admirably. It's the others who worry me with how out of place their characters are.
I'm shuffling away for a little while now. See you when I have more words.
