I randomly had an Idea, honestly I was actually messing around, but at the End there was a nice Idea.

I like that. I like that a lot.

Not only Transports would work. Military Factions as Outcasts, Corsairs, Liberty Navy, Rheinland Military and more could have Battleships. A nice Example could be this one.

So that would mean Factions could get a new Reason to attract more Members. To Discovery and Factions. Especially Corporations. They actually have more Restrictions than an Independent Player, I guess he even earns more Money than a Faction Ship. An independent Player would just trade up, trade up and trade up to the biggest Ship, while a Faction Member uses Patience, Activity and Roleplay.
Same is actually for the Armies.

I have to think about the Police Factions as LPI or RFP or KSP or BPA. A Super Transport or a Super Battleship are actually senseless for them. Same would be for the unlawful Factions. Maybe we could come up with something Unique for those Factions.

We currently have a lot of Developers who could Model Ships. Of course they would need the Support from official Factions and the whole Community.

For police,how about a cd that drains the power core and leaves the target dead in space for 20 or 30 seconds.

The Mod isnt meant to make factions the god-power. As i said somewere else, making ships such as a super battleship that only 4 people can ever fly is a waste of time, space, and effort.

this would motivate people to join official factions = increase in RP quality = less lolwuttery.

but after my recent encounter with a certain liberty trading faction, i have doubts as well.

One lonely Ship that gives the Factions something Unique isn't giving them God Power. You know, Factions worked a Lot to kind of having the Status of High Commands or being the Boss of an unlawful Organisation.

As said, we do have a Lot of Developers now. About the Space, the Mod is actually small. Megabyte Size I mean, look at the Others. For Example, Discovery is 90mb small, while the Freeworlds (could only find 1.66) is 225mb big. There is a Lot of Space that could be used.

to make it clear and short :

factions do not need - nor do they deserve any additional power to what everyone else gets. ( you read it correctly "deserve" )

what you get as a reward is what you create by your own. ( in terms of good roleplay inspires good roleplay )



it is hardly the intention of the mod to separate 1st class players from 2nd class players. - sadly enough - "some" community members already do that by separating themselves ( they are always the good ones ) from the "lol-wut" players ( who always happen to be "the other ones" ) - thats about enough separation we need - or actually a lot more than should happen anyway.

encouraging that attitude by adding better gear on a basis of pure popularity can hardly be justified, nor should it.


now thats my opinion about it. - if you re in a faction, it is your own choice. if you apply good roleplay CAUSE you re in a faction - good for you! - if you re a good roleplayer even when you re not in a faction - good for you, too. if you re not a good roleplayer - thats your business. if you break the rules, thats other peoples business.

good roleplay, bad roleplay - rewards, punishements - that has nothing to do with being in a faction or not. people don t suddenly turn great cause they add a silly tag in front of their names, nor do they turn bad when they don t have one. ( applies the other way round, too )


edit:

special ships related. - they are not really results of awesome roleplay or great popularity. as far as i know - what was needed mostly was asking politely - and not being a dick.

edit2:

a nasty result of having gear that everyone knows is better than "normal" gear: - you re ganked to death... and your enemies are fully justified to do so. - why? - cause if you have better gear compared to one other player, - that other player needs to compensate for that disadvantage - which usually means... he ll ask a friend to join in.

and soon afterwards - we get threads complaining about gankage... result: - everyone feels unfairly treated. - the "special ship owner" cause his special ship is a magnet for uneven combat situations - and he roleplay goes down - like his ship all the time... the opponents, cause if they tried to offer a "fair" 1 vs. 1 flying a similar but public class of a ship - they would need to have a lot more luck, a lot more skill - or they just die to the better stats to the other player. - and thats not fair either, is it?

It was just an Idea anyway. Actually most of the Factions have something special.

We shouldn't encourage people to join factions based on equipment and ship choices. Corsairs, LN, Order and Outcasts have wtfpwn ships and look where those got them. People should join factions based on roleplay, not "O LOOK I HAS SUPERAWESOMECOOL SHIP LOL"

Stop making the mod PVP oriented already. People naturally want the most powerful ship and best weapons.
