There is NO problem that can`t be solved by the use of high explosives.

I'm a bit confused on how this is going to benefit RP ...

First, the whole LF bit. How does a scout helping you to avoid an interaction all together promoting RP? So, to solve the silent trader epidemic were going to force you to avoid pirates all together? I see vast metagaming in the future on both sides, even more than now. I used to have fun RPing with pirates, we BOTH had to be vigilant.

Second, it seems that this is because traders used to say "cheaper to just kill me", well my problem with that is I really don't see these guys all of a sudden caring about if they live or not. Maybe if you just took away the 4 hr rule, but also taking away the ban on caps is going to launch all these rather unpleasant traders into rather unpleasant caps.

And one more thing, the worst part of all is for the people who play on the server after hours, meaning when the population is the lowest. Because of my timezone I can usually only play when most of you are not playing, I'd really like someone to find a scout, and 2-3 bombers to tag along with my transport at low population times. All the while the cruiser needs just him ... oh yeah this is really going to help RP!

I won't say this is the end of the world ... err Disco, I will wait and see. But I do predict we see a negative change in gameplay.

Allow me to point out the flaw in this logic.
Disco = game =/= real life. Game = supposed to be fun =/= one side completely and utterly has the advantage over the other side = one of the sides doesn't have much fun = they stop playing that side = an important part of the game gone.
EDIT: In other words, there's an essential thing that all games need, and that's balance, and this change drastically throws off the balance.

Allow ME to point out the flaw in YOUR logic, Sterlin.

I've been pushing for this philosophy for years. And I don't FLY a power pirate. So that's strike one, you're making an assumption that everyone pushing for this is a pie-rat.

Disco = role-playing game ; and traders having the exemptions that they have are not role-playing as what they are supposed to be, which is BIG, JUICY, TARGET! So we'll call that strike two.

Balance - if anything, this restores the balance to what your ships are supposed to be. You want to haul cargo through a pirate infested sector? Now you actually have to do something about it, instead of blithely sailing on, because you know that you're effectively immune from attack - or from the consequences of your own actions. Strike three, you're out.

As I said earlier - give it a chance. Heck, this makes some trading sound even MORE fun for me, because now I'll have to pay attention when I go through the trade lanes. I'll also have to keep an eye on the player list so I can tell who is in what system, and plan accordingly. In other words, my trader is going to have to ... gasp! - ROLE-PLAY as a TRADER, instead of just flying from point A to point B, hit trade lane, read a book while going, redock, keep flying, keep reading ...

In all seriousness, you're now whining. Stop it. Grow up a little, m'kay? Life isn't fair and balanced. Heck, I play poker semi-professionally in real life. It's a game - but it's certainly not balanced and fair, is it?

Nothing could be farther from the truth, you obviously have never met me or one of the official faction traders that I've flown with. They RP better than the pirates usually.

Sometimes we don't want to get away, sometimes we want to chat it up a little bit and then either pay, or try to get away.
But with a BS, yes, you are right, ALOT more likely for there to be more silent traders that just Shift+W, due to the fact the BS will just tear them apart and they have no chance.
Sterlin, ther are, what, a hundred or a hundred and twenty official faction traders?
That'a realatively small chunk of the pie.

If that is so, congratulations on correctly reading the rules. Let's pray for traders that all the pirates in their caps will be able to understand that too. (unlikely)

Well then they get sanctioned - like traders or whoever else breaks the rules.

What's the difference between breaking the rules in a fighter and in a battleship?

Perspective, please.

Removing the CD on cruisers and taking away the ability to SOLO pirate eases my concerns greatly.
