What?

If you're losing all your profit on a run, you should try another run.

But, to be honest, I can't remember the last time I was pirated, and didn't walk into it for the extra interaction.

It's not hard to avoid pirates as a trader, even without having a scout. With a scout it's just a cakewalk, but at least you have someone to talk to.

Trading, if boring, is really rather easy.

@ ryoken: Definitely a dumb pirate. I've seen the reverse as well. I go to ask 100k from a transport (because I'm feeling generous) or maybe 100 units of whatever cargo I see she has and that I like. The trader says "I don't pay pirates ever." Ok so traders are willing to die for such ridiculously SMALL demands? There's idiots on both sides.

If a Molly i understand. If not? i think just being a dick to deny someone making alot of cash.

' Wrote:Heck no, I wouldn't do that.

Some Pirates are awesome at the job, with rp that makes you laugh and makes it easier to rp with them. In those cases it's pretty much a win-win situation, the Pirates in question get some $$ and I get some entertainment.

Yep, we do have some dummies among us Traders, I'll freely admit that.

I'll also say it once again, I'm not so good at rp, but I try and I guess that makes a difference. :$

I agree fully. I also have a corsair/hessien/Outcast,and some trader's just never pay,or RP. Iusually stick to 500K-1mil. I also agree alot of good pirate's out there, and i have had alot of fun RP'n with them. As i said earlier in this thread. I was Pirated once, and demand was i perform a wedding. It was great RP,and great fun.

Yes i aggree some trader's just refuse even if you ask for 1 cargo,or cred. I have seen a Train die 10+ times before leaving Crete with full load of artifact's after corsairs demanded he leave empty for being a moron, but yet he would respawn, and undock full everytime until an admin stepped in,and sent him 10 systems away.

It is all relative. I should have also made a post "Are traders getting dumber" also, as pointed out here, they are also not great at times. In general though. I have been around a long long time here, and the number of pirates has gone up like 500%, and most of them are just moron's who want to make quick cash sitting on a tradelane doing nothing,or PvP whores. It used to be alot different, just ask some of the other vets around.(NY excluded. always been an idiot haven)

I feel like starting a thread entitled 'are thinly-veiled trials by forum getting dumber?', but it would, of course, be hypocritical.

Why are two instances of very similar threads going simultaneously, anyway? Other is here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70609

Because it is so abundently Idiotic that it needs 2 threads. Actually not really. If you read the start of both threads you would notice 1 is about hitting rhino's,and other low level ship's,and 1 is about pirates demanding a borderline abusive sum from all. People just never stay on Topic.

Yes we are getting dumber, but every time you pay us we get some of our intelligence back.

So keep it coming

No, they should be wetting their pants.

' Wrote:Here's the deal, if you say the maximum amount you are able to pirate is 5 million, every piracy demand will be 5 million, if you make it 10, every pirate will demand 10. If you wake it 2, there is no point in piracy as the pirate is just a glorified tax collected since virtually every trader will pay 2 million credits and walk away with the rest of his 10 mil without blinking an eye.

Good point

' Wrote:This is just traders not wanting there to be any risk to trading. Sorry guys trading is not like buying a government bond. It's not a guaranteed investment, and people should not think and act like it is. I trade alot, I rarely get pirated, you want to know why? I dont make it easy to pirate me, I dont trade tabbed out, I dont use the trade lanes as often, I avoid systems that tend to have alot of pirates.. Yes, I may make money a bit more slowly than others, but at the end of the day, I will have more money and it will be safe because I treat trading as a risk, and protect my money. This is just some people want a guaranteed way to make money, not the risks of rping a trader.

So basicly you avoid rp encounters with your trader? Hows that somehow fun?

For me.. I basicly like to be halted by police faction then smuggling. You can always rp way out your way with all cargo if the lawful is not some dummie with no sense of rp. Also be that one of few hundreds who even pays a fine !
