Order vs BHG vs Nomads Battle #2 Event Feedback Poll

Didnt participate in the first event, so I cant say much there.

How this event panned out ticked me off a bit at the end, but that really came down to leaders not being able to control the players on each side. These events may be advertised as "pewpewpew your heart out and to hell with the consequences" but that really only leads to a disorganized free for all capship furball. The whole thing should have been more strict, more structured, with less people doing their own thing - it's hard to do that when you basically invite every indy player out there with free access to a battleship, though.

As for the third side... it works in-RP, but not so much for pvp. With this event, despite the huge number of players that you'd think would be interested in the nomad side, getting a chance to fly ships they'll likely never have access to on the main server, the nomads still ended up vastly outnumbered for the majority of their time on the event server, simply because the other two sides spontaneously decided to 'work together'. If the three factions had all kept fighting one another, the sides wouldnt have been as imbalanced, as the keepers would have had to split forces to go after both the BHG and the Order, and vice versa.

Overall opinion... needs more organization, more scripting, and more ways for leaders on all sides to keep the idiots in line.

All I can say is triple yes. I enjoyed this event much more then GRN/KNF event. There was a few smaller mistakes, but it was first time done with 3 sides,so it was kinda expected. It didn't lowered the awesomeness of it.
There was cap spam, but at events like this, it only gives the impression of massive fleet battles, gives it more epicness, battleship spam was big, but all fleets were combined of different caps, and when huge fleet engagements started it was great.
I don't think events like this should be strictly controled by admins or Fleet Leaders, those events are here for massive fun, not for making movie sets where FL's and admins control everything, or something similar.
This one turned out way better then I expected, and I am proud on testing team and Agmen for making it possible.

I found the spontaneous play I had with the ORD and BHG on sat/sun morning to be great fun. We just formed groups, decided on a leader or 2, and went about logical battle business. Much fun was had.

On Sunday afternoon I decided to get involved with the NOM stuff.

And for the first 30 mins all that happened was we all sat around while all the leaders formed their own group and communicated to the "masses" via proxy. Then we flew all the way to Minor, only to be told to go back to iota and wait again. Everytime anyone deviated from the script someone began yelling about who was and wasnt a keeper. This removed all the fun from this style of event, and was generally stupid.

I think that if the following the script part of these event is to be succesfull there needs to be one SUPREME and obvious leader. Otherwise some kind of chaos ensues. ( I'm aware that an FL should fulfill this, but it does not)

In the end I think that all the keepers formed their own elite group and left the rest to form their own groups and elect a leader as before- at this point being NOM| became abit more fun.

/signed. This event was better than the previous one because it was more organised. E.g., at the final there were some nice console messages, and actually some storyline. In KNF-GRN people were just trying to push the opponents back, whereas this event had a better connection to the plot.

As for battleships... Well, such events allow us to test some ships we can't fly on the Main Server. For instance, I don't have any capship, so I wanted to give it a try... Later I switched to my bomber though.

I remember seeing a good point somewhere on the forums: the event should be divided in 2 parts: the first part is for testing out weapons and ships (it's more interesting to do here, since RP still remains) and the second part for RP (then some restrictions concerning capship usage might be added). Unfortunately, the main RP part was a bit smaller than I'd like and it was a bit late for me. Nevertheless, I've seen the final. That part was awesome.

I voted triple YES. The event had a plot (mostly at the end, but that's better than just pew-pew), 3-side combat was good, and such events (connected to Disco Storyline) are really a good idea.

I cant say that I didn't have my share of fun on this event, as did everyone. But, in my opinion, it was badly planned. First of all the loadouts on ships were just terrible. The BH bomber had a snac and nova while the Order bomber had a snac and cd, which makes absolutely no sense at all.

Secondly the Manta had Buckshots (which are 750 speed) and Debs MK II (which are 650 speed), and at these events, I have no intention of flying to Freeports, getting bribes and buying new equipment just because whoever set the ships up never heard that different projectile speeds screw up your aim.

Furthermore, the loadouts on some capital ships were terrible as well. The Osiris had good default loadout (anti cap) but the Bullhead and Thresher had horrible - not so good loadouts respectfully. I mean, the Bullhead had every possible capital ship weapon on it including Cerberus turrets (if I'm not mistaken). Maybe the person who equipped them wanted to see rainbows when the weapons fired, I don't know.

There is also the fact that the Order were spawning in their guard system, which made changing equipment for them very, very easy, while the Bounty Hunters had to travel for 20 mins to get to their guard system and back.

While I support the 'third side' and all, the co-ordination was just horribly planned. Almost none of the players on this 'third side' aka the Nomads knew what to do or where to go when the restarts for them were enabled. Not to mention that you had to travel around 100k to reach the battle, and then travel 100k again when you are killed or if you want to resupply. For people like myself, who had no idea how to even get out of the damn minefield surrounding that Nomad base, it wasn't fun. Not to mention that no one knew what the Nomads were supposed to do, or when to attack. Even Keeper players, at one point said: "//Where are we supposed to go and when are we supposed to attack?"

For me the experience was worse because the battles weren't at all fluid. At one minute 15 Makos are camping Toledo, undock killing everything, and after they got bored of Makos everyone switches to Osirises and then 15 Osirises camp the Freeport, killing every Hunter that comes by.

The battles in the previous event have been more fluid, more flexible, with more places to engage in and divide the fleet.

Yes I want to see more events, but not planned and executed like this one (I still voted yes). I want to see players encouraged to get in a fighter, or bomber. I want to see players encouraged not to immediately hop into a damn battleship. It is not fun when you are the only one in a fighter, and are being shot at by 5 Battleships, 4 Destroyers and 3 Gunboats (4 of those cap ships being full solaris).

A small ship furball would be more fun then 15 Battleships camping one spot for 2 hours. Also, either give players the same ability to change equipment, or don't give them that ability at all. More organization would also be nice.

And for Gods sake do get the equipment and loadouts right.

I really enjoyed it and only have a few things to say about it, although I'll probably come up with more at some point.

I liked the third side but for some reason the BHG and Order teamed up and it would have been more fun to constantly have 3 way battles going on. Some of us tried to achieve this by ambushing the order in the middle of a large battle a couple of times but.. yeah. Maybe make 3 sides who can't ally with each other or just go with 2 sides.

As for the capspam a way to chill it out would be nice. The idea of cutting off the osiris supply was good except everyone just sold a new ship to give the money to others for Bots and bats, meaning there was still a massive spam of them. Also for some reason people always want what they shouldn't, for instance trekking miles to get a full solaris loadout on an osiris before docking right next to the fight so they are back instantly. If you could disable docking so that you can launch and not land again that would fix some issues, making a small time when people are journeying back more common on all sides.

In terms of organisation... theres not alot that can be done really as the FLs are not always online and the more people there are the more manic it becomes.

My thoughts.

Edit - After reading a previous post i think that giving everyone a full nav map for the battle area would be darn handy.

It's close to impossible to do any kind of very tight control during the whole event. Therefore maximum attention should be given to the "environment" so that things are controlledmited by the game itself without any input needed. "Movie style" sequences need, however to be tightly controlled.

Question is how much of "PvP fun" and how much of a "cut-scene" the event should be like. Imo these two events have above all shown that it's very hard to do both at same time (like in GRN vs KNF) and easier to do each more separately (like in this one).



Negative Issues with the event: (relation to Tau event)

- respawn points/dockable bases imbalance highly favoring some factions (Order>BHG>Nomads) respawn point at tau 31 construction site
- base firepower/affiliation deciding the battle near minor Tau31 Const. Site and Yamaguchi firepower
- higher capital ships armors (Cap 8 on BS, Cap 7 on cruisers, Cap 6 on GBs) favored bigger ships, coupled with no respawn limit and problematic respawn locations this led to extensive use of battleships Cap8 armor on Valors
- no maps on the /restart characters, making it hard for new players to find the way no maps either

- some loadouts with clearly inferior equipment (Adv. CM on BHG Bomber, 650 m/s debs on Manta etc), without the ability to easily change them. KNF bomber with Imp. CM, Mosquito CD
- some ships not being made available for flying without reason (BHG GS, BHG LF) GBs on both sides, GRN LF+HF,Kusari LF

Positive Issues

- "story" changes during event
- cut-scene like ending

Why Worse: Not enough carnage. I expect those events to be some mindless slaughter, but it turned out all sides liked to camp the jump holes and instakill anything that jumps in. Wasn't only boring for the side that tried to jump in but even more boring if both sides relied on camping.
Heck, guys, there is no 4 hour rule. Move in, fire all you have, die and respawn.
Sure, for storyline turns it needed to be a little more organized, but for the rest of the day you could have simply relied on shooting stuff.
