Someone F1s on you and YEEE SANKSHUN fill. Cash ran away? OR what? He probably did not read the rules well, unaware of the system.
Instead of helping, 0.0, trying to reason, you go straight sanctioning it seems. Losing players this way are we.
Srsly, why report so many folks? YOu lost your 2milordai tax? Cant let it go?
Disconnecting during piracy can also be seen as a display of disrespect for the other player, to rules, and to RP immersion. I think thats what matters more to the people who report than the fact that they couldnt get cash. I think.

Sanctioning is meant to be a last resort people, stop acting like lawyers that we keep claiming we hate when they take up stupid cases or look for loopholes. Refer to the Bethesda vs Mojang "Scrolls" affair we all hated.
Only be lawyers if its absolutely necessary, contributes to the stability of the server and well-being of the community.
Try to be like an Angel from time to time, help people out if they overlooked something or are unaware, we're human we all make mistakes!
However, if they break it intentionally and intend to 'game-the-system', break their skulls in so the admins can flush what's inside down the toilet that leads into the feeding tank of Hoodlum's sharks and Igiss' carnivorous penguins.

You want to sort out potential sanctions with a Quake 3 tournament? Hellz yeah!
on topic: I do think some people are a bit sanction happy. I only report a sanction if it breaks the engagement rule, otherwise I just ask them if they've read the rules and if they have start following them.
Im not a sankshunwhore but F1... I could just keel himwhile he is floating and take as much of his cargo as possible and destroy the rest. Even the reengament rule. I know lots of people here reengage and i know exactly who it is but im not going to tell.

*lolwut goes to another char with different name and try to be snaeky*

It's sometimes fun, but when multiple people do this, i of course get pissed off like hell and just say
''**** you reengager ******* **** ******* ***** ***'' and just relax, switch to another char atleast 5 systems away and either smuggle or mine.

I did have my deal of reports while I played. Simple procedure -
-notice a rule breaking, evaluate
-if the effects on other players are minor, talk to, leave alone unless seen before. If seen before, treat as serious case
-if it is the worse kind, talk to and in case of insulting response or no response at all report.
-and of course in case of intentional breaking or being utterly annoying the attempt to communicate was minimal
In my opinion, the reports are here to be used. I'm pretty sure that if a violation isn't that serious, the admins won't clean the credits and equipment. That's what the admin warning is for. Plus if they taint my game with their nonsenses that are officially prohibited, why should I report them? Because the PvP focused majority wants to have easy targets? No, thanks.
To answer the original question:
Quote:why people revert to sanctions so much?
Because other people break rules and they don't learn.
