The reason I don't want to buff transports (apart from the fact it is not my responsibility) is that buffing transports by themselves does not encourage group play. It makes transports tougher and if anything encourages individual play.
Buffing transport armor if you have an escort addresses complaints related to bombers killing the escorted ships before the escorts can do anything about it.
I guess capships could be escorted in a similar way. I noticed in the recent event that there was something of a lack of escorting fighters for the caps.
When I use the word faction I'm not refering to only official factions but any group of players.

I love trading More that Minning i dont wanna just sit in a same place and shoot all those rocks i like going from 1 system to onther system Going through Jh is more fun than going in Lanes and Jumgates I just like trade more than Minning
' Wrote:For ages I've been pondering how to give trading factions more reason to exist. Most seem to struggle although I note Bowex are very active at the moment. Perhaps they are hauling ore.
I want to encourage groups of traders, i.e. trading factions and clans. I'm not so interested in individual traders.
One idea is implementing something like the HC /escort command where traders that are escorted are 10 times tougher. Weapons damage to a trader that is escorted does only 10% of the normal damage. The attacking party would need to destroy the escorts first or be overwhelming strong to quickly destroy the transports.
Thoughts?
I like it, that would also actually give traders a reason to hire escorts. And after all a trading convoy escorted by a couple of fighters will provide great RP aswell.
Cannon, can you please implement discount based on ID?
Sure that means they don't have to join an actual faction, but it will boost corporation activity. Just like we (BowEx/Kishiro) are offering ships for new players, this will lure them in as well with a smell of a bigger profit. It adds to realism as well, and do not forget that the discount starts only on the commodities you're exporting, but
with roleplay in the game with other trade corps, one could achieve discount on foreign products as well.
Example would be Ageira negotiating optronics discount from Kishiro since they are big haulers and users, in exchange for whatever.
They will flock to the faction once they see how fun is it to trade in one. Since we'll all be doing the same routes.
Just make goods discountable based on the ID.
Also: Please do not buff the transports. I don't see how will that encourage the faction roleplay. It will encourage people joining factions to survive better on their own. Transports are strong enough as it is.

I'm interested in other ideas too.
hmm webmissions?:D
maybe we not only need better trading... of course the idea is good...
but what about new ways of earning money?
Some Thoughts:
1.) high profit missions....
that hard that you cannot do them under 3 peps... maybe with battlecruiser- and battleshipenemies... if theres any problem with the limit you can earn in one mission (it was 999k i think...) just make npcs with a lot of 100k credit cards
2.) high profit smuggler routes... maybe routes through guard systems (if you use the shortest way... of course you can fly another way)... you cant fly a route like this alone... cause the guard npcs and wep platforms will kill you i think
3.) high profit trades from stations in house space to the omicrons (example: manhattan - Freeport 9)
to fly a route like this alone will be suicide cause you have to fly trough OC or 'siars controlled space
the /escort funtion would be pretty cool for trader convoys and battlegroups alike.
and Ivan`s idea also has merit. Although it wont cause people to fly in groups. since the 'bonus' is based on your id and not the ships around you. still, I think it could make trading at least more appealing. plus, it adds to the rp when companies have 'business deals' with each other.
Basically the indies do "their own" routes now. I don't know when was the last time I met a trader that shared a same route with me and he didnt end up thinking highly of corporations.
It's lonely out there. And suddenly these two guys talking smack in trading ships come along and they don't seem bored at all. What else is there to do than ask can one tag along.
Or like this for more RP /search escort it will get you a list opf Mrecs in the game so you can contact anyone of them and get an escort Does any one like my idea ???
That COULD work evildead, but it should be limited to the system you're in.
If it matches you with anyone in space you will lose time a lot. let's say you need an escort from NY to Leeds and your merc that you got matched up is in damn Shikoku.
