Then carriers shouldn't be used for PvP. Just to deploy fighters, and hopefully have the cruisers guarding the carrier so it can act as a mobile base.

My preposters idea is a good one!
If you allow (not considering the technical issues) a dockable carrier for events, you prevent occuring jealousy between factions.
Best current example: Rheinland and Liberty can invade each other with Trojan carriers... Nice picture!

So a 'yes' from me as well.

It has nothing to do with originality, Discovery has plenty of stuff other mods have too, we just don't steal from them. For instance we have fighters, they have fighters. This is somewhat like that.
Developed as something for all the FL community to use and more like a game mechanic than a model etc.


It wasn't refused previously, just isn't important enough to warrant the effort currently.

When the carrier ship dies all players docked on the carrier ship respawn at the last "solid base" they docked at.

When the carrier ship disconnects, all players docked on the carrier ship respawn at the last "solid base" they docked at. (It is considered player death.)

When the carrier ship suffers tremendous lag, it gets a red icon symbol, assuming it has not used shortcut commands to disable this.

When the carrier has ships docked inside it, it is disallowed the ability of docking.

To dock on a ship one must type /dock shipnamehere codehere and be within 100m of the target ship. (Anyone who can do that during a hard PVP session deserves to dock. That and it makes fleet battles more epic.)

Either way, we can take it that docking on a carrier during PVP is fleeing, or we can disable bots and bats. Solved.

Carrier docking has been on my list to do for ages. I don't want to promise a date for it to happen as I don't yet have the time to port and/or re-implement the Flak-flhook as a plugin for FLHook-plugin (the flhook we use). In addition several game balance questions are not resolved to my satisfaction.

If I may ask.

What view does a docked ship see once inside the carrier? Does it have a view similar to that of a stationary battleship base, with weapons dealer, gun dealer and stuff. Or does it see the outside of the ship it's docked on? Can it switch between these views?

On the servers I've been on that support it, FLAC put me on a base with... Well, I think it was just a simple launching bay like you have on all bases.
