If the carrier docks, move all the players docked to the base the carrier docks at.

' Wrote:To dock on a ship one must type /dock shipnamehere codehere and be within 100m of the target ship. (Anyone who can do that during a hard PVP session deserves to dock. That and it makes fleet battles more epic.)
Too much work. F3 works for me.

' Wrote:Either way, we can take it that docking on a carrier during PVP is fleeing, or we can disable bots and bats. Solved.
I just say do not sell bots and bats on the carriers, and let players respawn. Or simply spawn npcs.

Oh dear god, not another one.

Cannon looked into this a while back with me excitedly jumping up and down trying to help, and at the moment the current way to have dockable caps is to add a station to every system in the game. Systems like New York CANNOT have anything new added to them, they're just too overloaded already. Also, the huge amount of work for huge numbers of balance bitch threads, new rules and general headacheness means cannon probably isn't inclined to do it yet.

Maybe he will soon? Until we can find a way to effectively dock them I doubt we'll have it.

In response to the 'other mods have it so we can't' comments, you have to remember our server is handling a LOT more players than pretty much any other! Solutions that would work fine for 10 players an hour may not work for closer to 200 players an hour. It's got nothing to do with whether other mods have them. The battleship encounters mod is an example of a mod that was directly thrown into disco.

-Seth

EDIT: didn't see Cannons post. Woops.
EDIT: but I agree with what Seth says too -- cannon

This would be the absolute best thing for the Vagrant Raiders. Complete lack of a need for allied bases. We'd be *vagrant*

From a completely selfish and not-looking-at-the-grand-scheme-of-things view, absolute flipping yes from me.

Have all battleships/cruisers dockable, but have a 'slot' system.
AKA: Fighter takes up 1 slot, bomber takes up 2, Transport takes up 5, etc, etc.
Give Carriers maybe 25 slots, Battleships 5, crusiers 2-4.

A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.

Is it possible to make a lesser docking that doesnt have balance issues, such as:

Carrier is sitting near battle of fighters and one needs to dock. Carrier does /allowdocking [Enter Id or player name here]. Player then does /dock [Enter carrier name here] and is beamed into the center of carrier and enters formation (may cause ramming with outside, not sure if they can fix that) with it. Player is protected and can now trade with carrier to get bots/bats or ammo that carrier brought with it. When he wants to leave he hits /undock and is beamed out (similar to /stuck) and formation is broken.

What happens when the Cap dies when players are inside? Player takes huge damage if still inside ot possobly dies as his carrier just blew up

What happens when the Cap docks while players are inside? Player docks with jumphole too or is thrown out just like a formed person would if the formation leader docks

What happens when the Cap logs off while players are inside? Same as above, he gets thrown out of formation as the carrier disappears

Just a thought, and may have a bunch of holes or is impossible but still...

In the famous words once thought by a bowl of petunias that had been suddenly called into existance several miles above the surface of an alien planet,

[font=Fixedsys]"Oh no, not again."

Alan Markson: The Hellfire Legion's Lord Commander
The Perihelion: Freeport Four's guardian, and yet much more. Missing and assumed Lost with all hands.
Eric Dresmund: Junker, smuggler, thief. Last seen drunk on Beaumont
