Warning: life ends with death.

I find it amusing how in certain countries the laws (which I don't pretend to understand) seem to require producers/vendors to treat their product users as totally stupid by default. Best thing about it all - that their customers don't find that offensive.

In short, this thing is either moronic or it's in place because of visitors from off-world who cannot be assumed to have "common knowledge" usually passed to them in families or elementary schools. Which of the two you prefer to believe in is none of my business.

what those people don t realize is, they basicly say "i am too dumb to know that fat food makes me fat!"
but in the case of videogames it is not THAT easy. it is a rather recent developement that the society realized addictions to videogames ( while addiction to gaming is rather old though ) - mostly, cause only recently, videogames are played by older people than just teens.

people have to realize that a videogame addiction can be as serious as a narcotics addiction. people loosing their social connections, becoming estranged to friends, finding excuses to play their game, letting games become more important than real life.

not something to make fun about really. in japan, studies showed that a significant portion of the generation became considerably less efficient when it came to pro-active behaviour for the whole country ( especially in terms of economical output ) - and that is when its perceived as a serious problem i daresay.

That is a very good reply you made there.

Video games is somewhat a new technology, and perhaps we are starting to learn some side effects from them. (addiction, seclusion from society, etc.)

One thing I noticed is that you didn't noticed too many lawsuits filed against television networks for TV addiction back in the day . . perhaps there were no clever lawyers that caught on to that easy money back then . . .

Here is a good commentary article I found. Take some time and give it a read. Even though our nation makes it way too easy to abuse ourselves, I still feel that it is up to each and every one of us to do the right thing for our body . . . Do we do it ? . . . Nope .

How exactly does a hospital treat a severe game addiction?

All these experiences and a few more that i will not share as i do not want to rant forever have given me the views i have today. The fruits of my labor are mine. not yours, not his and definitely not some lazy welfare bum 2000 miles away in Colorado smoking up some legal pot on some bogus medical condition. If you all want to share your money, then go ahead, Make it an option to choose if you want to pay into it, or not. Like FDR intended it to be to begin with. I'll give the fruits of my labor away at my own will. not because some mommy sheltered thugs in D.C. say it belongs to everyone.
Well, that is my personally view on socialism, i hope that this will not be a flamefest as i enjoy talking about politics. Also, i hope this has not offended anyone. as that was not the purpose. I merely did as Mr. jihadjoe asked of me. I hope as well, that this will suffice for your answer.

Well, I see that your bitterness towards the "welfare state" is quite personal. And hell, I can't blame you for hating some aspects of it. But that's just it.

First of all, can you honestly say that things like that out-weigh the positive things brought by welfare policy?

Secondly, do you think that these... Shortcomings of the system are the shortcomings of the welfare state directly? I'd say that they're more like failure of controlling the channeling of funds. Which is a failure that can happen to any system, anywhere. And a failure that can be rectified, at least to an extent, give or take the inevitability of human error.

But to just simply blame the welfare system? When a simple solution would be to increase the control over the funds (but not controlling politically - some organisations tend to work optimally with some degree of autonomy).

I read that as well . . Never thought about that aspect, but, I feel that he had more motives for this lawsuit than just revenge. . . But, you never know . .

It's the same thing again and again. Developers don't need to put a so called "Mental warning" on
their games. If someone can't divide between his real life and the virtual life, then he/she didn't
understood why video games are even existing. A game should make fun and not considered like
a drug. I overread that article half and it's the same like everywhere in the world.
This guy just begging for cash cuz he's to dumb to play a game as it is meant to play. In my eyes,
he's one of the numerous Pseudo-Morale-Apostels who don't know, that a game is a tool for fun and
not an exchange for life
. 'Nuff said.

I think something like an addiction shouldn't have to be warned. You can really become addicted to any game, or anything so I don't know why one dude feeling strongly addicted to a game would mean we need warnings.

It's common sense that certain things such as addiction can result in using games/computers.
