I don't know if I'll ever do anything with this concept. I just want to get it out of my head and onto paper and possibly get feedback on it.

Order of the Apocalypse

A name coined up in bars where people drink less for the pleasure and more to forget the pain. Nobody who's willing to talk is privy to such information as to what the organisation actually refers to itself as. When fact and rumour intermingle only the bare minimum ever reaches the ears of the majority of people through the media. Although the media generally enjoys reporting fanciful "facts" to increase reader interest, reporting only the solid facts on the "Order of the Apocalypse" is seen in the best interest to save lives.

The Order of the Apocalypse is a fanatical sect devoted to bringing about the extinction of the human race due to its "unworthiness to live in the Universe". Its leader, a man "as old as the colonies themselves", sees humanity's inability to evolve beyond petty differences and jealousies as a reason for "the cycle of aggression to be broken". The most common theory behind the age of the founder of the organisation is that he utilises a cryopod from the Liberty Sleeper Ship, bought for a steal when the ship was being converted into a government building, to sleep for centuries at a time. The reason why this individual, known only as ]Err, haven't thought of a name yet<", has waited so long is still unknown.

Only in the last five years has this group begun appearing in space, attacking commercial targets and plundering valuable cargoes from vulnerable traders. A major attack on a civilian centre planetside is expected on a scale similar to the Phantom attack on Cambridge - the disappearance of which it has been confirmed was deeply mourned by the cult. Information is hard to come by - the only source are people who survived attacks and remembered the ramblings of the pilot of the OA ship before it opened fire. OA pilots who are about to be captured manage to kill themselves before being secured by authorities.

Yeah, lying in bed and this popped into my head. I don't know, comment or something, just thought it'd be an interesting concept. Especially the part about people from Sol using cryopods to survive until now. Only the background story at the moment, rest comes later.

Not exactly. The Phantom background story, found here, I feel was sloppy and unimaginative. So some alien race that nobody's ever heard of has human operatives working in Sirius, but does nothing else? If you have to create another alien race which is only involved in your story and faction to make the faction idea work, you need a serious re-think. Yes, it was from when RP was first introduced to the server, but still, I stand by my point.

This faction has no such influences. Entirely controlled by humans from Sirius following the logical conclusions of a man "as old as the colonies themselves". Hopefully more information will come soon, as I find time.

While at certain points in time I'd be interested in researching an old faction, at the moment I wouldn't be pro-active with such an endeavour. If you want to send anything to me by PM, be my guest. I can't guarantee I'll read it though. You can post suggestions on how this idea can be improved using things you learned from that group in this thread if you so wish.
