I do not approve =\
But you and lot of many other people don't get one thing:
Pirates are not supposed to win and I say that as member of LR.

Nail on the head. Nothing makes me pay faster then to fall into a trap with more then one pirate present.
And as for the battleships vs strikecraft or gunships: Gunships are more agile, but still not agile enough to evade ALL fire. Forget mortars and razors, use the rapid cannons to pummel them into pulp. Battleships have more, and higher damage turrets. But as always, battleships are more useful as heavy support ships in a balanced fleet.

This.
If battleships were to become more powerful, they would first be restricted in some fairly draconian but logical way.
And, for the OP of the thread, there's no point in having powerful battleships if you cant fly one, is there?
Also, I don't think anyone can call what's happening to battleships "good" or "bad" at this point. From what's been said, it'll just be completely different. I guess it's like calling a machine gun better than a surface to air missile, or vice versa.

You can only have one player in one ship at any one time. So if battleships were as powerful as they should be - then one player would be able to defeat half a dozen or more - which is unfair and would result in only the battleships flying around everywhere.
If more than one person could be stationed on a single ship - operating groups of turrets independently - THEN you could afford to make caps powerful as you would still have a good balance of player numbers on either side.
But until that particular game mechanic is overcome - things will stay pretty much as they are.
As good as this idea could be, it'll never happen, not even Igiss himself can make it a reality.
Why? The entire mod is balanced towards smallcraft, capital ships are as good as target practice. The ironry is that the average capital engagement lasts for 5 minutes while a fighter furball can last up to 2 hours. Not to mention the majority of the players are all self proclaimed cap haters and sore losers. Because their little pirate bomber got ganked by navy caps RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE MOST FORTIFIED SYSTEM'S PLANET, they whine and flame the forums for a nerf. Capital ships became the scapegoats.
