For it to be a solution, there would have to be a legitimate problem. But it's just your opinion that there's a problem.
I can't kill fighters in my Gunboat when they shield run whenever I pulse their shields down. It's a problem I tell you! Can we nerf fighters so their shields never come back up so I can kill them easier with my Gunboat please? I don't like that my favourite ship class has a weakness! It has to be able to pwn everything!
Caps should stay as they are. The current system in my opinion is good enough, since you can choose a ship type which is useful at something particular. Would be lame if there was a ship that rendered all other ship types useless. Making the capital ship class ultimate would be no different from vanilla servers where the final goal was to get an Eagle with Nomad guns and start the pew-pew.
Its funny that on one side here are people who fly caps and on other are bombers.
I personally fly both. I can easily say how much bombers are pwn and overpowered and how much capitals cannot do anything to them. While us cap fliers want balance, you rest merely want to be able to kill capitals without trouble and thus keep saying that it is still balanced.
Some more variety would be great. Preferably variety that would reflect actual LOGIC more then your ingame wishes for balance so that your bomber / VHF squads can challenge capital ships with that much ease.
But I guess ill be stoned by the bomber / VHF clicque here right?:)as pointed to the new ship class idea, some variety against capitals would be awesome, some variety for capitals to defend would be pwn as well. Go figure rest.
I have battleship,in battle vs any small target (fighters,bombers, even gunboats) it is peace of junk.About attack of fighters and bombers I forgot,even defence from them is play "lucky shoot" 1 on 1000 maybe.I even havent with what attack Gunboat.Attempted Razors(even if hit target,with such refire rate they are nothing),missles(to little turn rate),Solaris( to little range and dmg),secondary( at range more then 600-800m from target the is nothing too).At battle range of GB (1-1.5 k) you practicly cant hit it.
Well bombers are created for take down Bs, but must be at least chance to blow them.At range of battle (1-2k using bombers SNAC),you cant even touch them.
I ask only give weapons vs Gunboats, and chance to take down small target.
About Bombers,a have it too.I dont like it,but it is very effective practicly vs any target.Especially like Falcata with more fighters agility.
In battle fighters/bombers/gb's vs fighters/bombers/gb's battleship cost like one figter.

Well I used a bomber, but it didn't work out for me. I'm more of a gunboat/cruiser player. Bombers not uber ships when someone like me flies them. If the bomber pilot is skillful enough, I think he deserves the kill. Otherwise the word "Bomber" does not earn its name.
Remember the vanilla single player mission when in California the Rheinland pirates attacked and they had Rheinland Bombers. If you were careless enough, they took down Walker's cruiser. Why break the tradition?

Oh well, lets also read all 9000 another threads like this to be all good and on topic. But of cause screen from previous mod version is an argument indeed. Who cares about how easy where caps to get and how they are not now. Now capital costs nearly a money cap. To get caps people have to trade, mine etc. Those are gears of discovery, without traders\miners nothing left for pirates, no pirates - no need for navy. Only vhf servers are kinda cool right?
I vote for more ship classes, but we have to wait until 4.86 anyway, BS turret splittings and new turret classes are interesting to take a look on.
Also i want to see Corvettes, Frigates Missile cruisers or smth. Could be interesting.

Because I've experienced what they are capable of. I always thought Cap Ships were useless, particularly Gunboats, until I flew them for myself. Then I realised that it's not capital ships that are crap, it's the people who fly them without the proper experience which can only be obtained from flying snubcraft, like I did for 2 years before ever flying my Gunboat.
So now my response to people who think Capital Ships need a buff is generally PEBCAK. Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard. It's not Capship balance that is broken, it's your piloting ability. I've been kicking ass in my Gunboat and Dessie from the moment I started flying them, my Gunboat has only died three times, and my Dessie has never died. I've killed everything from Light Fighters, to taking on 7 or 8 fighters and bombers, and even bringing down a Dreadnaught with nothing but three Gunboats.
So maybe Capital Ships are harder to master than snubcraft, but I think it's better that way. Capital Ships are stronger than Snubcraft, and snubcraft are forced to work together to bring them down.
So next time you die and go "omg cap ships are so underpowered nerf the snac!" maybe take a look at yourself before blaming the game. Get out of your Captain's chair and back into the cockpit and gain the experience you need to succeed in a capital ship.

Well said. If one is not able to fight properly with his/her capital ship, then it means that this particular person needs to train more and more and more. Seems that most of us (including me actually) are not able to fight properly with the current capships, therefore some of us want them made more capable so in the end *every* newbie could pawn with one of these.
NO!!! My point of view is that if you are not fit to fight with a capital ship, then get another ship type - capship is obviously not your type then and you don't deserve flying one. If you still feel that you want to fly one, then *act* yourself and *train*, don't ask for the mod team to *act* and make things easier for you. Work more on your own please.

Allright. Aside from this being another useless argument in which you slide off topic and rather to game problems attempt to blame player. Fine.
I fly my capital ships way too often. I took on entire LNS fleet with my RM BS. I took on 19 (!) VHF / bombers in Texas with it and won with some support. I took out outcast invasion with Solaris zephyr. I can continue but I guess you got the point.
I am attempting to point out to something different but yet you choose to ignore it. 2 gunboats with some skill can take out capital ship of any class. Same goes for 2 bombers and hell, even sometimes to 2-3 VHFs. Pretty fair aint it.
Battleships need some buffing so they can be more then a target practice. Armor, better guns or something. Make them be able to fight other caps for some fleet battle scenes, not bomber swarms.
