' Wrote:Now then, this is not an attack on a rival faction in the slightest, nor an attempt to promote the competition, which shall remain unnamed. The aim of this post is to point out the illogical nature of giving out bonus points to factions, merely for copy/pasting or paraphrasing the contents of the NPC group's infocards and history.
I don't see why are you trying to hide behind words, everyone knows who the competition is. And who's giving any points? As far as I'm concerned, the only comment from the administration regarding our progress was '500 mil deducted'. In both our cases. Copy pasting? This post was written quite a while ago, but posted only recently. As far as I'm concerned, with this new ruling, official factions must follow the faction lore, and that's what we've been doing since February, when this faction was founded.
' Wrote:Now, the idea of an official faction is to represent the ideals of it's parent NPC group, then expand on and evolve that roleplay. Currently the [C] is a decent representation, simply because what appears to be zero imagination has been applied to its creation. Yes, you are the Council, but you are also cardboard when it comes to unique flavour. I'm afraid to say, as a critic who is attempting to remain impartial, that the material is simply boring; merely jazzed up by graphics.
Again, when did I ever say that my faction will gain official status because of pretty graphics? It's just a matter of taste, I like stuff to look good. I don't see why are you even taking that into consideration. Boring? Again, a matter of taste. You might as well say Gallia is boring.
' Wrote:I would prefer to see your own take on Council lore. Something mildly original - something you yourself have created. I know normally this would not be a mandatory requirement, seeing as factions have got by with less in the past, but I'm afraid you are in direct competition with another faction. The name of the game is adapt or die, with logical development of lore, based within the boundaries of Council cannon appearing to be the best way to go about it.
As I've said previously, this faction was founded back in February, and was based on the existing lore. I see no reason why I should change that now. Originality forced by necessity isn't a concept I'm too fond of. It kinda defeats the purpose.
' Wrote:Moving off from the above quibbles, I have another for you regarding the rank slide graphics (which by the way, I approve of in theory as good original work). It's just the icons selected appear a little... Odd, and random. Up to and including Lieutenant makes sense, but Captaine and above seems strange. For example, the Captaine and Commandant appear to be using a 5 leafed clover, while to be frank the Colonel and General slides make you look like Corsairs. Of course, that is a relatively minor issue, and relates to presentation as opposed to lore.
Thanks for the feedback, I enjoyed doing those badges. I would probably adjust some of them in the near future.
' Wrote:Now, finally, moving away from lore and presentation to focus on something else - your faction activity. Your roster looks good and well - great even, but, I would like to know how many of your members are active, or even members of the faction any more. To quote but one, I noticed "Marianne Lavoie [Dancing Lady]", with Dancing Lady even stating in this thread that she is no longer a member.
I would be interested in seeing a faction rollcall, as I am sure, many others would be. After all, the [C] has only recently revived itself from inactivity, and I'd like to know who didn't come back with it.
I commend your observational skills, however you miss the fact that back when this request was submitted, and by the time she posted, Dancing Lady was not on the roster. She only recently decided to come back in the faction. Regarding activity, I think that doesn't concern either of us. It's an administration issue.
All in all, I appreciate the feedback, from all of you. Keep it coming.
Also, I would also like to hear more feedback regarding our in-game presence, rather than this static post. Had an encounter with any of our members? Let me know if you enjoyed it, or whatever. After all, we're still playing Freelancer here, and it's the game that everything orbits around.
I have made a few encounters with the [C] now and their fine display of creative Role-Playing in-game combined with a good attitude is what has convinced me to give you my full support.
The reason I chose your Faction over the RdG is because I feel that there have been several attempts to try drag your Faction's name through the mud on their part and I'm not even referring to to this thread (in case you wondered). I fear I have opened a can of worm with this comment but I feel this needs to be spoken out loudly because frankly I find it to be in very poor form.
Anyways. Good luck and all.
Much expectedly RdG-sided comments will come now but if you want to talk I suggest you either PM me on forums or on skype and not start a heated discussion here. Thanks.
I recently send back and forth several PM's with Jammi since he wanted to make a few comments regarding the points I brought up in my previous post. Hearing from his and/or "RdG's side" gave me a wider perspective on the things that I said.
With that in mind I feel that there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding on my part regarding the issues. Such as a [C] member being killed due to that thread regarding shooting a Civilian transport as well as confidential information regarding a certain Gallic Faction.
If you are here as an outsider reading my previous post I would like you to be critical of what has been said, since the information I have collected and how I have perceived them have at the very best, been one sided.
Regardless, there seems to be a lot of heated discussions going on and I personally do not have the energy to meddle myself in with any politics regarding Gallia or its Factions. So this will be my final and last comment on any Feedback thread regarding all Gallic Factions, with the only exception being if something directly concerns my character.
Good luck to both of you Factions and hopefully everything will work out. I'm going to step out of the boxing ring now. And just a personal opinion, I really hate this new rule with one Official Faction per NPC. This whole situation right now in my opinion just shows how it can create so much bad blood.
I also apologize if anyone took offense of my previous post.
I had a relatively nice encounter with one of yours today. After the "serious" talk was over, the subject went a little far off. Was funny though
Although the conversation was funny, ooRP things like this in system chat should be punished by a boiling cheesebath  :
Quote:[C]-Luc.McCloud: How was it moi fault? =)
[C]-Luc.McCloud: they put narcisists to shame =)
[C]-Luc.McCloud: Oh wait, I'm a hypocryte so no I wont =)
[C]-Luc.McCloud: sorry =)
[C]-Luc.McCloud: because as soon as you leave for your dinner, I'll be lefto n the field victorious =)
[C]-Luc.McCloud: ((man, stop making me laugh, its hard to RP XD
[C]-Luc.McCloud: ((Epic death star reference XD))
Lose the smiley crap and ooRP comments in between, and I will enjoy the interactions even more

Yea, I already said it to the other guy (albert?) that I was sorry, I'm just not 100% back to using RP.
But I did, actually, improve on it and will continue to do so.
This is another faction needing a ruling. As a member, I'll speak to the fact that a lot of momentum has been lost since this has been delayed so long. I frequently stop-in under 2 of my characters (transport and fighter), but without such momentum, it's rare to find someone else doing the same. The enthusiasm we had a few months ago has drained, the chat is stagnant, and we're never on together anymore.
It's a symptom of the delay, and nothing else. I worry we will be denied status due to falling participation, when it's clear that if we had a ruling on this a while ago, things would be very different at this point.
