Meh - I am only interested in improved gameplay options.

That is why I advocate for the Turret View Steering mod - because it simply gives me more gameplay options to steer, line up targets, fire broadsides, circle opponents and evade.

Using that mod privately - I feel I am actually flying a spaceship - not a floating base.

As for the devs saying 'its too much work to balance' - that does my head in - DELEGATE!

Buffing caps will not bring variety. It will make it so that the only thing that can kill a capital ship viably is another capital ship. Since you'd need 5 or so bombers for every Battleship, why bother flying bombers? Just buy your own Battleship, it's not like they're hard to get.

As for Logic? It is logical for Bombers to be long range snipers and to stay out of a capital ships defenses. If you were designing a torpedo would you risk the lives of your pilots by making the torpedo range shorter than a cap ships defenses?

No, it's not. So it is logical for SNACs to have a longer range. Unfortunately for you, that logic doesn't tip in your favour, so you dub it as illogical.

We could increase Solaris range, but honestly would it help at all? A bomber at 3k range is not going to be moving in one direction for more than a second, and with 2400 projectile speed the Solaris is not going to hit anything that far away.

And Solaris are not offensive weapons, they're defensive weapons, they're designed to keep things from getting close to your ship. Your escorts should be taking on the bombers.

It takes 3 Gunboats to kill a Battleship in any reasonable amount of time. It took myself, Ench and Tycho half an hour or possibly longer to kill a Dreadnaught with it's two fighter escorts, using 2 Rogue GB and 1 Tridente. We're all excellent Gunboat pilots.

It also takes 3 Bombers to kill a Battleship in a reasonable amount of time, 2 can do it but they need practically flawless SNAC aim, even one miss will set them back minutes work.

It takes 4-5 Fighters to kill a battleship, I know this from experience as we used to do it frequently in Omicron Gamma with the Red Barons. Killing Legates with Sabres and Odins is not easy when you've only 3 ships.

So that's 3-5 players per 1 player in a Battleship. And you want to make them stronger? So that it requires 5 or more bombers to kill one? No. Not without restrictions on who can fly them, Battleships are far too easy to obtain.

If you ever believe that is balance, then you are delusional. The dev team has even said it themselves, no one player will ever be able to fly a ship that makes them more valuable than scores of other players.

And that's the end of my 3 am rant.

Oh cause a bunch of rogues are must be able to bring down the entire liberty fleet. I like to rp my indi rogue that runs from patrols and sneacks around chasing after lone trade ships to rob them off an hide before navy came to kick my ass. It's fun.

Just make the battleships obtainable for people in official factions. The faction leaders will allow them to fly battleship only if they obtain specific rank...

Dude - if caps could station more than one player on board, then you would have a case for cap uberness. Because then 6 people in a BS taking on 6 bombers = Fair Fight.

Just give it up. The GB and smaller clicque will always beat the upper part. Do it like others, mass up REALLY, really bad and hit them hard. Be fair, 1 battleship for each enemy gunboat. That should help out:)

Right now, a battleship can't be taken down solo by anyone except a capital ship. You need two gunboats or bombers to take one down, and a large number of fighters. A Battleship -can- solo anyone, with enough luck. Only cruisers and above can even hope to solo a battleship.

In other words, they're pretty much unbalanced as is. Making them stronger would just encourage more lolcaps. We don't need more lolcaps.

Please just let this thread die.
