Life is amazing. It really is. After the start of the war with the Outcasts and with Bretonia all the racing events in the Republic had to end. They needed all the ships and all available pilots. Lucky me, I found Victor Atreides and he managed to take me out of the military. Since then, I've been searching for races and little events to earn a money. I know that the Colonial Republic is negotiating a peace treaty with the brets. I don't know if this is a coincidence but a corporation Falcon Incorporated or something like that announced a new racing event in Dublin. Joining such an event wasn't very easy. You need to have cash, and my bank account was dry so I started to build my own ship. Nothing too fancy but fast. The idea was to take a CTE 750AE "Starflier" and turn it into a rocket. So I started to rip off everything that wasn't needed on that ship. First, I took the wings down. I wasn't planing to land on a planet. Then, I mounted a lighter shield. Less protection but also, less energy taken from the engines. I also thrown away the armor. Light means faster, even in space. In the end, I thrown away the escape pod. I know it's dangerous, so I replaced it with a simple ejection device and I always fly with a pressurized suit.
Now that I had a skeleton, I decided to give it some power. I modified a bomber engine. Same power but very fast cruise charge. I know I'm a genius. Now I only have to search for a sponsor to pay the entry tax. I must tell you, I expect a miracle.
And it happened. The miracle happened. Victor decided to form a racing team. He knew me and he called me. We're three pilots for now. Myself, Victor and a girl, Shiro or something like that. I haven't met her yet. Those guys, have everything they need. ISE is funding them and what's nice is that they offered to buy me a real racing ship. I refused them. I want to see what this baby of mine can do. So, we're called the ART as in Atreides Racing Team. We have a nice sponsor and nice girls that support us in the crowd.What else? I say, let's get ready to race!
Only 3 days till the big race or the R day how we like to call it. Today I talked to the rest of the team and we had our first training session. We only compared our times. Shiro was the fastest while myself and Victor were struggling to get times as good as hers. Oh and the ships...
Shiro is flying a Renzu Corp "Ki" Civilian Light Fighter. That ship rocks! It's smaller than my StarRacer. Only thing that I don't like are those small engines. It doesn't have the same power and still she has the best time on the track.
Victor is flying a Scimitar - Series CX Border Worlds Light Fighter. While I'm not a great fan of the border worlds design, I find it to be a very powerful ship. A bit too big for my taste but it has the power.
This is it. 5 hours till the start. I just came to write about the rules and the organization. It's simple. Don't shoot your opponent, don't skip pass the rings, bla bla...
There will be 2 qualifying rounds consisting in 4 pilots. Then, first 2 from each round will go to the semi final. The last 2 from each round will get one more chance to enter the final in a knock-out race. First two from the semi-final and first two from the knock-out race will get into the final. The first 2 races last for 3 laps. The knock out and the semi-final, 5 laps. The final, 10 laps.
Everything nice till now. Problem is that Victor can't take part so it only leaves me and Shiro to win. Right... I'm going to the final training session.
I won! Yes! I'm a bit drunk. Champagne is good. Shiro is sad but I'll try to make her happy one way or another. We won! I still can't believe it. I haven't feel like this since I finished my high school.
It was a very interesting race. I started in the second qualifying round with Shiro. I got rammed at the 6th ring and then I couldn't come back but I was happy. Shiro won the round. Then, we had the little knock out race and I won it. I lead from start to finish. Easy race, really. So, I was qualified in the final. Now, it was Shiro's turn to get there. Unfortunately, a massive crash took her from the leading position to the last place where she remained at the end of the 5 laps. She almost cried at the finish line.
After a short break, we were ready for the final. My biggest problem was a kusarian that I'm sure I'll see in the next editions, trying to take revenge. Anyway, the race started and my powerful StarRacer got in front. I was so concentrated I didn't hear anything in my headphones. Just rock music. At the end I found out that at the start, behind me, they crashed, all three of them and the kusarian was thrown to the last place. To show you that he really was a thread, he finished in second place. I understood that the other two crashed in their struggle for second position. Anyway... point is that I'm 60 millions richer. Same is Shiro. Now, I have a dilemma. To use a new ship or stick to my StarRacer?
The training session for the next race went well. Again, Victor was not able to come to the event and I don't know if he will come to the race. Even if I won this race last week, I'm very nervous. I had a bad dream last night and I'm a bit concerned. People say when you have bad dreams before a major event, like the race today, things can go wrong. I just hope my StarRacer doesn't explode, that's all. Time to make the final adjustments to my ship. The race starts in 5 hours.

And once again, I am drunk! We won, ART won again. This time it wasn't me... wait, I'll tell the whole story.
So, first qualifying round started perfect. I took the lead right after the start and started to take some distance from Shiro and the other guy. The race was going really well but just before I finished the first lap, all my systems went down for three seconds. Three seconds in the world of racing is huge so I abandoned.
I was... terminated is a good word to describe my situation. However, Shiro went to the next stage where she won. It was a great race. She went first right after the start and the others weren't able to catch her. After this second qualifying round, it was time for the final. It started with a major delay because Shiro had something to fix at her ship. That Ki is a pain but if you choose the right settings, it's a little beast. Anyway, when the final started, she was fighting with a heavier ship for first position. Of course, she won it after the first turn. The race was exciting and at the end, she had only 1 K advance. Once again, we won!
