Freelancer with a joystick

I recently found my old joystick lying around, and after counting the number of buttons/knobs/twisty things I decided that I wanted to try using it on freelancer, but am unable to find any options to enable it.

Anyone know a way to enable joystick in freelancer?

to my knowledge you cant use joystick with FL.. I may be wrong though, however i cant see it being of benefit to you ingame.

Think that is impossible, why do you want to use a Joystick anyway? It would be like playing CS:S with a Joystick..

Use your Stick for other Enjoyments...like....Microsoft Flight Simulator

The only thing I can think of is using mouse emulation software, but I imagine someone using a mouse could turn circles around you. It would be cool for a few minutes but that's about it.

You can try and get Joy2Key (I think that's the name)...
It emulates keyboard binds with joystick movements.

If its impossible without an emulator, I'm not going to bother. I mostly wanted to try it since I remember old games that needed a joystick being really fun, and also because I wanted a use for my joystick.
