Well making money off bases you create I can't see that working to well, only because I don't think you can control the amount you would gain from buying or selling commodities. Likely hood is that base will not actually self produce commodities, there'll be more for establishing temporary or permanently control in a system.
The main way I can see out of them is smaller groups, attempting to establish themselves in a certain system. Or for large corporate companies to reinforce largely used mining areas.
But for that surely you would have to have some control over the commodity costs, in which case I'm guessing you would be treating it more as a massive depot.
In which case assuming you could control the Commodities there, and a supply of miners as well as a good amount of haulers who would buy the gold, and the Mollies didn't have an issue with it I guess it would be used as a money making scheme.
Although it really depends on how they choose to implement is and the amount of control the players will have.
Quote:why the devs dont give any info of how the base will be run??!!!
My guess is so they have more freedom in the design. So if it turns out they can't do a certain thing with regards to the bases not to many people would be disappointed, that and the possible wailing they would receive from not meeting expectations.
' Wrote:if the base is only to dock your ship in it will be totaly useless i think
are many many bases where you can dock your ship for free
It depends on who you are. Mainly it depends on your characters RP status, for example my Assembly character RP wise operates in Kyushu quite often, but there are no bases which he can dock at because of his RP status as an Assembly member. In Kansas there are no bases for miners to dock at, or flee to.
And in the 'supposed' Alaska system the Prison stations are basically empty but they hold an IRP value.
So all in all it's no so much what a thing has in quantity but what it can offer in quality RP.

That depends on how much they cost. With the likely supply amount alone I would be hesitant to make any rash decisions on it. Before I even consider buying one I'll be sure to check what's required and what's offered.
If it seems like something manageable, and if they are available to unofficial faction, then I may considering buying one for the Assembly - although that'll likely be way into the future.
alright i will clarify to the best of my abilty of how bases will work to the best my knowlege.
HOW MUCH DO THEY COST AND HOW DI I MAKE THEM?
player bases will be deployed by one player. and will require resources (not sure how many) and money (from 2-4b i THINK).
HOW ARE BASES DESTROYED?
how bases will be destroyed is still ifish and will work one of two ways. one, they will be destroyed and be gone. two they will be destroyed and go into a 'dormant' state that will requre resources (and mabye money) to bring back online.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO RUN THEM?
A player base takes resources to keep running, and though i dont know the exact ammount it takes it is enough that for one person to run it you would be bringing it resources almost 24/7 so they MUST be joint ventures.
HOW DO I DEFEND MY BASE?
defences will be avalible in the form of gun platforms (not sure if they will be the same update as bases) such as cerberus platforms, razor platforms, solaris platforms etc. which will cost money (and quite likley resources)
this is my understanding of how bases will work based on questions and awnsers ive both asked and seen posted all over and some are thing ive found out from other means.
feel free to ask other questions and i will try to awnser them
