Simpler calculation:

Magma hammer V:
Shot damage: 1,010. Energy per shot: 195
Efficiency: 1010/195 = 5.18

Skyblast B:
Shot damage: 232. Energy per shot: 65
Efficiency: 232/65 = 3.57

Higher efficiency values are often not too important in a brawl. They -are- important if you use fighters to engage craft like gunboats, or if you use craft with a diminished power core, because they either give you more damage, or a longer burst time.

I got an Excel table with the calculations for BS, Cruiser and GB turrets and Codename Weapons. I think I didn't do one for Class 9 weapons though...It isn't thaaaat usefull. It also got everything else about the weapons in it. Like HDmg/sec, SDmg/sec, Energy/sec, Range, Speed, SDmg/sec/energy etc etc.

So, yes, I think it's a good idea to add the efficiency rates to the Wiki.

Crunched the numbers for all turrets and standard weapons today - it was a slow day. Do you want to put the numbers in Peter, or should I?

Ok, two points.

1. Do NOT input these statistics on your own, that's useless. The wiki has maths functions that you can apply to the template for guns and have a good, proper calculation performed by the wiki system, without later visitors wondering if someone just took these numbers out from their behind or are they actually true.

2. The math is all wrong. Damage per second, and consequently also energy use needs to take refire into account. The refire number is how many shots can be carried out by this gun per second, and efficiency needs to take that into account.
A better formula would be: (damage * refire) / (energy * refire)

Oh really?
...
Weapon X
Damage 10
Refire 2
Energy 5
...
Your formula:
(10*2)/(5*2)=2.00
Simple formula:
(damage/energy)
10/5=2.00
.
Same deal.

While you're at it, you could also make a list of the turn rates of all ships.

why not (damage * refire^2) / (energy * refire^2)?
You will get the same numbers. You don't need count with refire at all
