I've come to notice that Npcs just seem to target the player even thou, there are overwhelming enemies, and every time their one soul porous is to kamikaze on you. I was wondering maybe in the later version there will be a...smarter AI?
Well, that has to actually do with the AI. You are the player, after all, and chances are you're just as hostile to that enemy as the other NPC's are that are your allies. So they ought to be whacking on you. Otherwise it's simply a case of you can just sit around a pick off the NPC's without any trouble whatsoever.
Also to add on, depending on your rank and other NPC ranks, if you hold the highest rank/reputation to such hostile AI. Friendly NPCs will be subjected to a alternate targeting class based on rank, range from hostile NPC/player, and reputation to the player and other NPCs with same/different faction groups.
This also applies with more than one player present. At least their targeting is not at max. Heh heh.

Well, think of it this way. You are an ace pilot, they are rookies. When you enter the battlefield it only makes sense to ignore the rookies for a bit and focus on the ACE before he kills too many of you.

heheh yea those scums re-engaged me many times and low level killed my starflee in their guard sys couple times as well. come on NPC's its a starflee:lol:
One thing I have to say about the NPCs... remove the bloody freelancers. They're lagging the fights, harassing my unlawful and order chars, not dying to 50 missile salvos, having combos of tizonas and house guns, etc..
