I don't post a lot. My post count should prolly prove that. But I gotta ask, because it's been bothering me quite a bit:
Why do people feel the need to be so constantly negative about new textures/ship styles?
I can almost understand the wanting imports gone, if only to avoid copy right issues, but the hard core hatred of all things not "Freelancer-ish"
I mean, if Discovery is an evolving universe, that has EXPANDED from the vanilla universe, added factions, (Many of which I personally don't feel fit in right anyway.) Then why do we feel the need to fight even ship designs that are gradually changing.
I agree that I like the oval engines more on LH ships, but that is just one thing. Why CAN'T they evolve, and change, with some details from originals? After all, you can still look at a modern war vehicle,( Plane, or a tank) and see some similarities. But they have changed DRASTICALLY over only a few decades, whereas ships in freelancer have, in some cases, had centuries.
I for one think that the Lank hackers, with the wealth they've acquired and the stolen knowledge they have access too, are with in full rights to begin their own ship line, that is different from others. maybe they'd even steal parts they liked from some designs.
This doesn't mean everyone will like it, or that is will match a vanilla ship line precisely, but hell, I'm getting SO sick of things like the stagnant CTE series that all look the same.
I even saw a thread where house versions were suggested, and displayed and to be honest, Power to them, they were awesome!
Even if some ships share the same stats, a little fresh look won't kill anyone, but everyone has their own view on "Freelancer-ish" and in a game universe that is SUPPOSED to be evolving, it sounds kinda close minded.
Not everyone flies every ship. Not everyone LIKES every ship. If you don't like it, that's cool, but just because it doesn't fit YOUR views doesn't mean it sucks.
I don't really know Dude42, or any of the people who have issues with him. To be blunt, I don't really care what happened, who did what, or who right/wrong.
I think the some of the models are decent. I even kinda like some of em. If some of them make into the next upgrade, great, if not I hope something good does. Either way, a little fresh look into the universe doesn't change everything, I mean, who says it's not a one off ship that fades into obscurity because of a failure the NEXT upgrade.
We've all seen enough ships change completely or vanish like that.
Either way, I like to fall back on one of the main rules in Disco:
"0.0 Be excellent to one another. Consider the people around you. Keep fair play in mind. It's a game and nothing is gained, or lost, save the experience. Credits can be re-earned. Ammunition replenished. If you become infuriated step away. If you make a mistake apologize. If you wish to remain in system after you die, or after someone has moved away, simply ask.
Fair play, a level head and consideration for others."
Seriously, I think we've forgotten this one a lot lately. And please if you've an issue with me, PM me. Don't flame me here.

Imports are not a Problem of Copyrights, they are going to be removed, because they are from other Games. Meaning that they are not Freelancer.
Yes, Sirius is developing, Sirius is changing. I can simply explain that with a few Words. Look, here we have the normal Sirius represented as J. In the Future the J could change. Developing, Science, stealing Blueprints or whatever and the J could change into a j. But it wont change into a O in all of a Sudden. Look at the current Lane Hacker Ships excluding the Gunship and Battleship. They look similar to the Borderworld Shipline. Especially the Broadsword and that light Fighter.
Now look at the posted Model. It suddenly pops up. It would be like the German Military would use Messerschmitt and immediately develop an EF 2000 Eurofighter and start using that one. Highly unrealistic isn't it?
Not only that, the Model of the light Fighter replacing and the heavy Fighter Replacement look horrible. Short and crass.
The last Thing is, I don't have a Problem with Dude42, in Fact no one here does. They, including myself only have a Thing against his Behavior. His own Behavior, which is in Fact bad and the only Negative I see here.
"Who is it doing this synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funkin'?"
As I said, I can understand a gradual evolution, not a sudden just from first gen prop driven planes to high end jets, and yes there are some things that are jumping too far from their roots in a single bound.
Having said that, I was asking more because some people (not meaning you specifically) are very much against any changes in style at all. I agree that a second gen ship should have many similarities to a first, a third to a second, and even a fourth to the third.
But after a development cycle that long, the fourth may not have much in common with the first anymore.
I'm not saying that these models are mind-blowing, or anything, but some of them, in my opinion, arn't bad, and with a little improvement could be used.
I should have named the model I liked more specifically, but that is my fault. I rather like the "battery" model, more because while it had no real predecessor it still looks like what it is, an ungainly transport.
Sure, a little streamlined for looks, but obviously NOT a combat vessel.
I am no pro by any means, but the textures don't look that bad to me, but again, this is in reference to the "Battery". The others arn't really my style anyway.
Hi, I know my regular dissapearing acts seem like a bad habit but it has been
a long string of bull @#%$ for me and it would seem that the ball of @(#^ has come
to a stop. I will have my comp re-webbed in about a week.
And start right on in where I was, as far as development goes.
I will make a long explination in the dump for those who have too much time and feel like
understanding my *(@#^Q%...
I think you should kill whoever sold you your keyboard. It tends to replace some words with random symbols. It's moderately interesting that you will be fooling around - until you leave again, of course. See you around the corner.
