Everything looks interesting indeed. Hackers becoming couriers for the Order. Not a bad idea.
Since knowlegde is might, i dare to believe they would make "backups" of that messages and keep them for themselves.
About the Xenos:
Things must have gone really haywire when xenophobes getting interested in foreign developments...
I'd say it isn't that bad. And I understand the Xenos part. It's what I think they call in English a preemptive war
Though of course as a Hellfire Legionnaire I must express my disappointment on the total exclusion of our faction, though I understand the Vespucci part is just a mistake.
' Wrote:I feel like I must express my uncertainty regarding such concept of Lane Hacker ships travelling through Alaska (and 2 Guard systems). I find this somewhat unfeasible considering the risk involved in doing so for a faction as small as them. Why would the hacker have more ease to travel through these systems when the Order has been doing so for years (17-18 in fact).
I strongly believe that it would be more logical for the Hackers to act as a contact instead of a courier for the Order. The Order, from my viewpoint, is more adequate and fitted to travel through these systems without being killed by nomads (after all, they've been fighting them for 18 years) or captured/killed by Liberty Navy.

About Xenos, I would remove the part involving Mollies. In fact, I would be inclined to leave Xenos as some kind of wild card when in Bretonia

Liberty Corps
Liberty is pretty much closed to anything going to or coming from Rheinland. Whoever is shipping them. There are some exceptions, who are then told to go back home from Libertonians or Rheinlanders. I feel like this part is not reflecting what has been going on for the last 1.5 years on disco.

Amazing that I didn't notice these things when the Liberty storyline came out (internally)

Don't worry...I did notice it.
" XO....relocate the fleet,and I mean ALL of it.NOW ! "

Yup.
It's not that simple...

In-RP I find it possible that the Xenos would like to defend Liberty with a preemptive war.
But they should only target IDF or generally Gallic convoys and supply lines. They know that they don't stand a chance against GRN, so fighting constantly with them should not be encouraged. Nevertheless, it's a nice development and I don't understand why many disagree.
About the new Rogue and Lane Hacker role I find it quite interesting, but I want to agree that Lane Hackers moving within Alaska and within the other 2 guard systems isn't logical, this is work only for experienced Order pilots.
On the other hand, the Liberty Lawful side remains static and I don't like it.
Overall it is a good storyline, but it could have been better.

Damn late responses..
You distrobute it only to your own bases, I've run escort a good few times on LH~ tagged ships. Whether you do or not "INRP" I don't know, ingame ye' dont.
After doing reading of the main post here - and laughing a bit at some of the knee jerk responses...
First, Quebec is not reachable without going through house space. Therefore I don't think we should ever see any BHG cap ships there going nomad hunting.
Second, because we of the BHG are Sirius based (duh!) and we've also been told twice by the Gallics to go piss up a rope, we're not welcome - should there be a bounty placed upon attacking Gallic warships - or for that matter, upon Gallic merchant ships - I don't think we would have any issues with taking those bounties. That is, presuming that those bounties were placed by a lawful organization, whether that be the Bretonian or Kusari government, or a Sirius based corporation.
This is NOT a change from our stance on involvement in house warfare. There have been bounties placed upon Liberty, Rhienland, Kusari, and Bretonian shipping before. We have not taken or gotten involved on one side or the other in those conflicts because we DO have working relationships - albeit strained at times - with those governments. When you do not have a working relationship with a government - then there is nothing to risk. And regarding Gallia, that also mean that our very freedom to operate is at risk. The RP between the Gallics and us indicates that if they were successful in their invasion, we would not be allowed to continue operating. Of course, this is an intolerable condition to us.

Well ... this part says litle to me! Liberty space is not my "zoi".
But looks nice! Xenos now will start look good to some because they can start to "be freedom" fighters and not just a gang of terrorist. Some Xenos fighers and bombers using hit and run tactics can do some damage to the Gallic Navy.
The rest ... again nothing about the Zoners ... but who cares right?!!
That part of the Nomads will make no diference on a small RP story that i'm starting to make ... i have not develop more because i have no time ... already have some stuff ready but not all! But all ok! I'm a patience man and i have time!
But let me see ...If Gallia plans to invade Liberty after taking New London ... they will be also very close to Rheinland (two system and they are on Omega 7), and also close to Omega 52. And what about the Corsairs? I think that Gallia ,will not like to see the Outcast entering Gallic systems with cardemine, so a friendly stance with Gallia and Outcast is out of the question, but what about the Corsairs? Will Gallia join up up with the Corsair to defeat Bretonia?
Take care all, and keep the good work
P.S.: I don't need to ask more about the Zoners like i did on the others parts of the sotyline, because i already know that we will be ... i mean ... not all, because some are special ... Zoners will be crushed, killed, insulted and many more ... like we are now!
' Wrote:I was under the impression that the direction of all factions was determined by their respective official factions already, else why have a thread asking the direction the official factions wanted to take their respective factions in?
Please don't make me pull up my test build screenshots.
No, Official factions play the role that dev team gave them. I, as KNF leader, can't declare peace with Bretonia now in 4.85, or make a treaty with the Blood Dragons to cease fire and attack BAF as one army.
They give us a guide and tell us "Ok, this is what you guys will do, from there develop it as you want without going against this guide".
' Wrote:In relation to player factions controlling the NPC factions future.
Currently Disco runs by a system where there are set updates with set roleplays knotched on them.
IE, Kusari invades Bretonia.
From then till the next update, the players play that roleplay out and develop upon it.
Then the next update comes.
Kusari is at peace with Bretonia.
Players play that roleplay out and develop upon it.
However, currently it is not a faction leaders decision what his faction does but a developer question.
This usually does not cause issues, as the developers are usually aware of the roleplay going on and if it's sensible, are happy to add it into the mod.
However there are times where developers do not find certain factions roleplay sensible and do not add it into the mod and can sometimes add in contradicting lore to the mod.
This results in players finding their roleplay development was useless and for nothing. It also highlights that it is not a players choice how his faction progresses.
Discovery's roleplay development is decided upon by the Devs, Igiss being included there, and not by non-devs.
Devs though, it should be noted, are also players just like you or I.
Most factions have developers in them or developers interested in them.
Some don't and as such, get kicked around a good deal.
It comes down to a small conclusion.
Disco's development is in the hands of the developers, not non-developers.
If you want a change to this scenario, make a thread about it.
That's exactly how it is.
' Wrote:I'm still reading the thread and I dunno if this has been addressed yet or not, but you're saying, Zelot, that since the Hellfire Legion wants to determine what they do and what sort of faction they are, instead of leaving it up to a totally disinterested party who probably doesn't care about them at all in the greater scheme of things, they don't get to be included at all?
So the Colonial Remnant shouldn't be included in any storyline, ever, at all, because they want to decide how their faction acts towards other factions instead of letting the devs decide everything, when the devs have no reason to care about them at all.
THIS MAKES PERFECT SENSE, TOTALLY.
Oy! Be nice to Anne!
Basically this.
So factions don't decide what those factions do because the devs think "no that's stupid we shouldn't let them decide how to rp their rp"
So this is what Disco really is. I think we're done here, gents.
The door is right there if you are unhappy, and unless you are in the =CR= leadership, I think they are working with the dev team on how their faction will work.
I wonder how long would it take for people to understand it.
It has been always like that, it will be always like this. Or anyone here thought that the BAF players decided "ok, let the KNF take over stokes" Of course not, they were given a role, and they played it (damn that they have played it...), learn from BAF, that's all I can say to all the people complaining.
Like Schurbli (spelling) said, sometimes you get good stuff, sometimes you get steamrolled.
