I have an idea to stop the lolwut from going crazy...
How about a Disco Sever Rules test made mandatory by all new accounts.
Just 20 questions based on the rules, and if you fail you do not get the forums.... and the Disco downland should be made downloa-able though forums topic...which cant been seen unless you pass the test...
What do you think?
It will cut back on the sever rules being broken left in right, and weed out everyone who cant speak english....
This is the sort of thing we don't want to do. It might keep certain "undesirables" from joining our server and our forums, but that's not what we're about here. We try to be open to all, no matter what.
So you are saying they should be scared of reading and having to understand the rules?
@Zukeenee - Its to make sure people understand the rules, failing means you get 70% of them wrong, in which case, you should not pay, since you will just be getting sanctions left and right..
I would never start playing game that requires studying before you can play. It's all about discovery, rules included. I learned the rules as I played and I haven't been sanction yet.
If you don't like the current state try to educate new players.
Problem with that would be that the Players sanctioned who are new to the server would not be able to reply to the Sanction post without having to go thru the rules, making the sanction Notice un-needed. and it does not keep new lolwhuts from coming in thru server, never knowing about the forums.
Disco needs to be Whitelist only.
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.
@andrew - Like I said, if the Disco Mode download was put in a hidden theard for only forums members it would work...
@dod - What sparked me to do this was that I encountered someone who broke 5 rules in 10mins.... when I tired to tell him he flat out ignored me and told me to kill myself...

That's not the point. The point is that, whether we agree with it or not, our server and our community are open to all from the get-go. No tests, no gimmicks, just plug-and-play.
And if the people who join don't follow the rules, they get sanctioned. Yes, your idea might lower the number of "rule-breakers" we get here, but it changes one of the founding ideas of this server.
These sorts of precautions have been discussed a few times before. We just... don't do it.
Doesn't mean that everyone's happy with that decision, though.

There are many people who are just unaware that they are doing something against the rules and are thankful for advice.
But I've also met that kind of players you mentioned, those are to be reported. I rarely bother though.
RP has to come over time and out of free will. It also took me some time to fully understand the RP rules and etiquette. Forcing RP and further restricting the general procedures of the Server will only cut us off from Newcomers. And I cannot stress enough that a Freelancer server should be grateful for every player.
