Since speed of 350+ in cruise is only allowed when catching up with group. Sling shoting at ~400 means you are out of it, and thus, is huge abuse.

Nope, it's not. If YOUR ship goes more than 350 on it's own, then you're violating the rules. If you are able to form on someone that's closer to the target such that you close, then it's acceptable. Yes, it's a pain, but it's not a against the rules.

Stop playing ruleslancer. Play freelancer

As for OP: It's either a lag spike or cheating. Lag spike seems more logical because you can't just turn cheats on or off just like that as far as I know.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're the Freelancer myself and two other SCRA chased around Dublin?

First, when we went from "5k to 2k" it was because we approached you from an angle. Once we got right on your six at 2.7k, we used the Slingshot to bring our CD user in close enough to CD you.

I do hope that clears things up.

So is running to the edge of a system =P

It really should just link to the closest one next to it in that direction, once you hit it it should act like you jumped.

Silly Freelancer.

Anyways, This does happen a lot and even with no overlapping angle where they can turn and catch you.

I dont know what causes it and I wont even try to act like I do.

Unless you chased several fl's around dublin, I do believe I was that pilot. I already knew about this tactic and assumed you were using it....I don't see it as a violation of any rules though.

If someone can fly 500K up in space because he refuses to halt his ship, then I can sling-shot with my buddies.

It takes skill, and timing, two things that should be promoted in this game.

The only thing we promote on our server is roleplay, it's the most important aspect regardless of skill and timing.

This slingshot technique would be borderline mechanics abuse, I won't support it.

I can see if the escapee is fleeing pointlessly, beyond the edges of a system or up, but otherwise... Ehhh. The example I can think of specifically is fleeing the Navy while playing my smuggler: I've developed a good ooRP relationship with a few Liberty Navy people and had several good RPs with them, each time I've simply run from them. No RP was lost. It would appear to me that in this case using a game mechanic to catch up (which, in reality, doesn't really make sense) would put the focus on the conflict rather than the RP. I get that some people are just going to run pointlessly and that's lame, but if this tactic is pulled on me, I'm going to give minimal effort in playing my character, pay the pirate/fine or whatever, and move on quietly, as this screams to me more like "We're here for your money, RP or not."

Ageira Technologies does not suggest the use of this so called 'tactic', due to the strain it places on both the Cruise Engine Manifold, and the power core supplying it.

We would like to remind you that using this 'tactic' will result in an immediate and irreversible loss of warranty on the affected systems.

EDIT: It's also dumb as **wink**.

Bad language is not acceptable on the forums.
Even if it is hidden by asterisks.
Please do not do it again.
Thank you

Thats ok, Ageira still makes you pay through the nose for work even under warranty. An Ageira warranty is worthless.
