- decrease shielding to actually freighter / fighter
- further increase the armour by two ( 3.200.000 base hitpoints ) but decrease the bats/bots significantly ( to maybe only 500/500
- change the 3 turrets to lvl8 gunboat turrets ( for anti bomber missiles )
Well I agreed with all this point. But I hope that the new model will be as huge as the current one .
well - that is a brainstorming about how the barge might be adjusted now that its semi-public. ( and only if you think that adjustments are justified )
ppl asking for a size comparisson - its a revision - its as big as the current one, there is no reason to change the size - so i really don t understand the question about a comparisson.
the extensions on the revisions are a greater obstacle! - but then - we also have hitboxers now that make more than just a tube. - does it fit into a lane and a gate with GREAT care? - well, you bet, cause there is no reason to replace the barge with something that cannot do it.
why do i suggest armour over shield?
shields regenerate - and a large shield with appropriate regeneration provides unlimited protection if you cannot apply sufficient firepower. armour provides protection - but that protection costs you money and is finite. - did i have in mind that a 3.6m armour barge could slap a cau8 on? - sure i had... as i have written - the barge is not to be destroyed by a rag tag random force like 2-3 bombers quickly. - it should take ages for a them ... and to be honest - something with 10 million hitpoints ( armoured ) is at least a little bit closer to how real capital ships might be like so they don t blow up to a few supernovas.
maybe you re right and i m wrong - but who cares if its a little smaller or the same size. the revision offers more details to assess its size. - and even if one does not agree with that fact, the old barge isn t a very complex model ( i think i should know since i made it )
Well this isn't really new as you've already posted it in the Media Forum. I honestly like the older Barghe more than this one. Not only the Shape (old round Shape is better), also that Thing on the back looks odd. The Engine is much, really, much too small.

The old barge looks a lot cleaner. The textures on this new model are iffy, the front looks more like a warship type thing, then the mobile factory the old barge has.
As for lowering the shield class, if so please make a special shield for the barge that doesn't get so easily blown off in gas pockets. Sticking a Class 8 on there wouldn't make a difference for PVP encounters, but it'd be a hell of a lot nicer against the environment / NPCs
Model looks great. Cargo sections are clearly seperated contrary to the older model, the crane is even lifting one out, implying the way it's used to be done when a cargo ship, I suspect of the civilian train line is stationed under the Barge's wing.
Engines seem to be alright, got 8 of those, 4 front, 4 rear... that's enough power to move the ship.
Adding more hitpoints is a neat idea, though I'm not sure about downgrading to a level6 Freighter shield.
All in all, lets go for it. Way better as the older model.
Now we just need to be allowed to get one with a Freelancer ID, so I can use one for my Rangers.
No thankyou. Model looks much too zoner. The textures that is. also.. with all those goofy fins.. it wont be going anywhere. and with a freighter shield? NPCs will kill you before you can dock.. just be spinning you and shooting at you. 3 GB turrets? their short range? that's a laugh.
I'm sorry.. but the barge is a horrible enough ship as it is.
If you cant do anything nice to it.. leave it alone.

I think what people are asking for is a side by side of the two models so they can compare them.
