Since Anomander said why, im going to say why and help.


My parents are so overprotected im.afraid if I say where I live to someone online they will put up barbed wire, mines, snipers, and GlAdOs, or worse, take away the laptop I use.

I did some rp on xfire, my stepmom now says she saved me from an interney predator.

All because I didnt know how to explain RP to a biblethumping mega christian who mashed buttons in Super Smash Bros,Melee and kicked by ass.:dry:

And when I say skype, my dad goes "voice/video" talk.

I mentiom theIM feature, he forgets.

And he still didnt go for it when I said pros that a friend told me

1: less memory used than Xfire
2: easier to communicate

He said in the game, I replied server can get full and will sometimes die.

"Oh well."

So, any more suggestions that an overworked accountant could go for?

Im a bit tired of being indie.

Skype, while quite useful, isnt REQUIRED for all factions. Handy yes, necessary no. Im in three factions and have left the main chat of all of them. Just talk to the people in charge of the factions you are interested in. If they feel you would be a good addition, they will work with you.

Calls are spice of Skype. You can trust me that it's epic when you are in group fight and you can actually communicate pretty fast. Fight accuracy for your side +100%. Also when you got those natural jokers like few people around :D

With all the internet-marriages and talk about penises and butt-holes on this forum, and the way some guys RP nymphomaniac girls ingame that get all hot and bothered with people they talk to, I cant say I really blame your stepmom.

She may even be right. What were you "RPing" on Xfire, and why was it on xfire and not ingame/forums?

Seriously, if you don't want to use Skype, don't. Use whatever you want, but it's not necessary for everyone who doesn't like/doesn't want Skype, to open a thread and tell us how bad skype and how cool something else they're using is.
