I believe the point of these warning buoys are to provide extra information as to why intruders are being shot at. I fail to see how it would betray the secretive nature of guard systems when it is only a sign, on the guard system's side of the jumphole, telling the intruder to leave or be destroyed.

Yeah, right ... and now my ship is going to explode:rolleyes:If there was the danger of a slow and painful death after reading your post, it might have worked :P

And for those of you, who still need a real life reference ... try this! *throws two pictures right through your screen like some ninja thingies*

And I think these signs DO work even for secret bases and installations

Let's hope there won't be a seventh page for this ... !

A picture of a sign which says that photography is prohibited. I can see it worked very well.

Two reasons I don't like this idea:

1. It removes more of the Discovery feel.

2. It will take time to put them where they need to be. Time that could be spent on other things.

More to scan and read, more to discover!

Or if you mean "wtf is this? it makes no sense" after you got murdered by police with the "discovery feeling", you may be right.

Damn
But hey, if there was a sign prohibiting photography of the warning signs, it might have worked:PAnd still, the people didn't ENTER the area, so it still does work

1. Yeah, right, Discovery should be all about getting crushed and maimed after every jumphole you take.

2. Maybe 1-2 hours, depends on the preparation and if every guard faction wants a buoy/wreck/sign with or without their very own infocard text but it's NOT something that will delay 4.86 ...

A good idea I think, though I believe some guard systems are meant to be to secret and wouldn't declare that the system belongs to a particular faction.

Signs in front of j-holes leading to some guard systems contribute to immersion in RP envirnment. To whatever extent they would be effective in-RP doesn't matter, they make sense.
OORPly they lessen the frustration of newbies (that is those who actually want to discover things).

Don't hit them in the vital area!;)

Wrecks in front of holes leading to unlawful/super-duper-secret guard systems? Wonderful idea. Both lootable wrecks with infocards and unlootable debris (like capships in some of the debris fields). But let them be pointed outward, like if they were destroyed when running away from.

BTW. Bits of dialogue which occured in Order guard system a day before that topic was started:
[16.02.2011 20:51:11] Juan.Villa: Hey intruder, never enter The Order's home system without identifying
[16.02.2011 20:51:20] Juan.Villa: And never enter our guard system.
[16.02.2011 20:51:31] Richard.Ames: Guard system? Ooops, sorry.
[16.02.2011 20:51:48] TCG|Jackal: sorry? *smile*
[16.02.2011 20:51:50] Richard.Ames: There was no signs saying it is your property at that j-hole, you know?
[16.02.2011 20:51:53] Dead.Sea: Rivas : You could have identified yourself...
[16.02.2011 20:52:00] Juan.Villa: We will just crush your ship into small pieces and say: oops
(...)
[16.02.2011 20:54:48] Dead.Sea: Rivas : What were you doing here,anyway ?
[16.02.2011 20:55:04] Dead.Sea: Rivas : Spying for the Navy ? Messing around with Nomad tech ?
[16.02.2011 20:55:05] Juan.Villa: Good question Rivas.
[16.02.2011 20:55:06] Richard.Ames: I told you. The jump hole looked promising. And it wasn't on maps.
[16.02.2011 20:55:27] Dead.Sea: Rivas : Promising...heh.It ain't the first time i hear this.

Feel free to PM me regarding any grammar/spelling/other language mistakes I have made in my posts.
