i think the news means capships when it says battleships....
yeah...how about making ships sensitive to your rep?
anyone?

That's sort of what I've suggested Unselie. By moving 'elite' ships into faction guard systems a player MUST get their reps in order to even browse the ship dealers' wares.

oh...well, that's a bit harsh....
if you never see it, you never try to get it...and, what would you put in their place?
the battleships, sure, put them in guard systems, I'm all for actually putting things in guard systems.....commodities, anyone?

So, restrict the ships according to rep (if its possible), and move the battleships to guard systems?

Remind that Discovery isn't a MP mod only. Some peoples like me enjoy to explore the Discovery universe in open SP and try all the different ships. It will be very hard if the capships and MkII Fighters been sold in guard systems only.

For RP the player should get the permission of the admins to buy a capship. Dependend to the military ranking indifferent of lawful or unlawful. Only Admirals should own a battleship. Rear- and Viceadmirals or Commodores should own cruisers. Colonels/Commanders own destroyers (I'm for splitting cruisers and destroyers into different ship classes dependend to their specific strategical and tactical tasks). Their must be special deployed bomber groups with a limited number and so on down in the hierarchy.

The greater factions only should have one or two admirals on movable BS, three or four Rear- and/or Viceadmirals for example. Means there are no Admirals along with Xenos, Gaians and other small factions.

Civilians must be unable to own a capship except for the Bountyhunters. Freelancers should own a Gunboat at the maximum.

I'm not experienced in Discovery RP, but i hope you can catch my drift. I think not all i suggest is nonsense, cause its the way i would manage the RP aspect. Especially to avoid a capship rush.

well....I hate the single players.
no...but...you can set your alignment in the SP, so, i don't see the problem...run your own server.

and....I'm against anything that gives the admin's more work....so, admin control should be out...they do enough.

I think making ships restricted by rep would increase RP....instead of just saying you defected with that rheinland cruiser, you actually have to do it....
you want an oorp ship, you have to rep twice.

Angel...not all players, or factions for that matter, show that sort of discipline. It would be wonderful if they did.

The typical MO of any new player is to rush in, trade to afford a battleship, then...and this is a troublesome plague....start a new faction. (but that's another topic entirely)

and not all players are in factions. Some just want a bs to fly around in an shoot everyone as a "mercenary". there needs to be like a council or something for ppl to get approval for battleships.

and next mod version won't improve capship spamming problem. Bombers get nerfed (hard) battleships get upgraded, do the math.

I would guess (or at least really, really hope) that the bombers are going to be modified in the next beta to have enough power to fire both novas at once.
