This is exactly what i hate.. so many cap ships, everyone in LSF wants one... because the fighter is not strong enough they say. This is what my plan is for LSF to lower cap ships in battles.

For every capship in battle must have 1 or 2 fighters with them so if there are 3 cap ships i expect 6-9 fighters... Only 3 battleships max in LSF if you want a cap ship you must buy a gunboat first and if you are good with that you can move on to cruiser..(this is just an idea i had lemme know what you think people)

This ticked me off yesterday when my men attacked another faction and we were up against 1 fighter and like 6 cap ships. And i wanted to prove that LSF didn't only use cap ships so we attacked with all fighters and lost of course because of being out numbered by cap ships..

I hope something happens.. and soon because im tired soo many cap ships

I mean here's the deal, its just not fun. It's quite frankly starting to kill the game for me. I dont remember the last time I had a fighter on fighter battle.

The Good: I went to New Berlin the other day and saw 7 or so RM members. 2 RH Gunboats, 1 RH bomber and the rest all in fighters.

The Bad: My earlier situation in Gamma.

The Ugly: I flew over to Tau-31 to check on "the situation" over there and what do I see? Like 8 frackin battleships all owned by Mercs, Liberty Id'd players and the like.

Someone mentioned making BS only available in Guard Systems. I love that idea. I say anything larger than Gunboat should only be available in guard systems.

Freelancer and Mercenary ID should only allow the use of Gunboats and lower. Mercs and Freelancers wont have enough money to own them, and when you think about it, those big capships need a crew of upwards of 400 people. Doesn;t really seam freelancer-ish to me if you have a captain and then a big generic crew and you still a freelancer.

I think that this would limit the number of capships in use, GUnboats should be the biggest.

And Unless a faction is a big one, it should not have ANY m,ore then 1 or two. You have the fleet leader, and only he would be privilaged to use a BS. The reason is being, he has large control and logistics rooms on that ship for managing his fleet and if there were 4 battleships, it would be a logistics nightmare.

My solution: Make ships tied to faction Rep.

Seriously???? I have more fun flying my smuggler than my destroyer...
The Epigoni are going to have a serious shakedown of caps in the next week as we have like 5 members from (*PM*) that merged and i think most of them fly Outcast destroyers.

someone has say that figthers have no power to destroye a BS,in the new version are more bombers available or not? i think more players change from fighter to bomber.and i think that 2 bombers and 2 VHF can take down a BS.and good Gb pilot can take down BS alone i think (i was see as a singe Gb destroy liberty battlecrusier,and the pilot of the battlecruiser was not newbie and was good armed,and the gb was not full with nomads or something.).moving the BS to guard system is good idea i think,but better is make guard systems more harder to green rep,or BS can buy only player who has guard of the fraction full green,not only neutral or little bit green. i fly with one bs(osiris),but the bs is on 90 percent used only to defend gamma of enemies,(outcast/BH)and somethimes is used to attack enemies in other systems.
and many people say that faction can have x or y BS only.and what not faction players? not all players have join a faction.and restrict the non factioned players to not alowd a BS? that the game is no longer freelancer i think.

well, when clover headed to gamma yesterday, it was full with a bunch of outcasts, AW and others, quite a surprise, cause i called for backup on a trader that i had chased for several system ( trader ID ) who headed to tripoli. ok, clover is gaian - so i wasn t really up to pirate him anymore in gamma - i didn t feel like it anyway anymore, i more felt like shooting him down.

i called - and then saw like 4 reds inc. - not what i expect in gamma - where it should all be green. turns out it was a bunch of those outcasts and AWs. i think i saw some fighters, too - 1 or 2. but the majority was destroyers, gunboats and at least one dreadnaught. the destroyer chased me into the corsair guard system ( i really don t like to fly there without permission - but first, no corsair was there to ask, and second, i had a destroyer on my six - which made quick decissions necessary )

what irritates me is. the destroyer was asked to take me down. ... makes me think.. a destroyer moves out to take a single fighter down? - inefficient and ... well, quite stuipid. thats when the fighter escort would come in hande. a destroyer has no chance against a fighter that is jsut focussed on "getting away".

well, the destroyer gave up after chasing around in omicron 84 a while. surprise. - and yes, it WAS a bit overwhelming to see so many big ships around crete. as if they were about to invade that planet.

i m all for moving cap ships to guard systems - but that won t fix the problem, i m good to guard systems on clover that i never worked on being good to - i just killed a few BHGs and i can fly basicly everywhere. licence for cap ships? - ok, add another equipment slot, and sell a licence ( maybe admin approved - present him a good story ) or otherwise - but if its admin approved... hell, our admins will have quite some work to verify all the stories - and i would guess they have a real life, too?

oops - gotto go - RL caling - can t finish that post - never mind .....

Unfortunately Jinx is right. This is one of those situations where people just need to police themselves and use common sense. And we all know dang well that aint gonna happen.

And to respond to GlobalPlayer, if you ask me, a freelancer having a BS is not very Freelancer. Since when would a single freelancer have the access or the ability to fly a BS. Number one it takes a full crew to operate, 100's of millions of dollars to build, equip and maintain, a very large shipyard to construct, access to the technology and specifications and years upon years of training to operate. No true freelancer or mercenary would ever have access to such things. Should there be a rule against singular players (aka freelancers) having capships? No I dont think so. However, should people attempt to RP the idea of having one a lot better? Abso-friggin-lutely!!!

Basically, factions need to start regulating themselves better. Hell, RepEx doesnt have a BS at all. Limit to 1 maybe 2 Destroyers/Dreadnaughts/Battleships a few Cruisers and Gunboats, and then fighters. Again, my original point... Fighters should be the backbone of your forces, not an afterthought. They should greatly outnumber the amount of capital ships in your forces, not be the other way around. RP folks, its in the name of the server, time we started following it wouldnt ya say?

Hey, I'm all for this idea that would be great to have more gunboats and fighters than Battleships, hell how many times I've gone in to a system and BAMO battleships and cruzers. Crikey! its hard to win with those odds, I for one would like mainly to see gunboats and fighters bif it out.

Same old, same old... Say, how many times this has been brought up again? I've lost my count already I think.

I currently use my battleship as I've got tired being constantly chased on light fighter, as if every larger ship have unstoppable urge to smash my little blue craft. Not to mention I like challenges, and certainly this ship provides them due to it's sheer size. And when outnumbered I run out because this ship is too valuable to loose (I play D2-like semi-hardcore mode). I would have chosen gunboat and I had it at some point but that blue one is somewhat broken when it comes to balance. Cruiser has broken hitbox, so it leaves me out with two ships to pilot: the light fighter or the battleship.

There I made suggestion in a similar thread in mod development section about implementing of idea of death penalty for battleships. Hopefully it will find it's way into the mod and thus make people to be more careful about their precious battleships.

Increasing prices, battleship licensees will do very little to solve the problem.

1. No civilians can gain access to a capship license.
2. Freelancers only can gain access to GB license at the max.
3. Greater factions are in need of a military hierarchy.
4. Responsibility is upon the faction leader
5. Only faction leader can apply for capship licenses to the admin.
6. Admins only work is to decide for the application dependend to the size of the faction, their hierarchy and their reps. For balancing the limited number must have figured out
7. Admins only have to watch over following the rules as they already do.
8. I repeat responsibility is upon the faction leader. Means, if the faction leader is doing wrong, the whole faction get punished. Is a member doing wrong and the faction leader unable to handle this, the whole faction get punished. This is a hard way, but will bring more discipline.

Pirates are in the same need of discipline to survive , like house police and military. They are not anarchistic.

Never wanna hear something like :(I'm not in a faction.... If you are not with the U.S. Navy you'll never fly a F 18. If you are not with the israelian army you'll never drive a Merkava tank and so on. If you wanna have a BS, join a faction, follow RP, diserve promotions and maybe one day you will own one. RP isn't coffee klatsch it is hard work. Anyone who don't think so has not understand RP.

All these suggests will bring more RP and a limited number of capships.
