Now we are in the realms of speculation here guys ... I'm sure Igiss has something in mind to make this
work without all this guessing on the forums.
Dark Oddity's ideas are just that, lets not go off on one about someone's own take on it ...
This where the wrong things get spread around. Battleship licensing will happen in the future, a player wipe
won't for those reasons alone. What would be nice though is if everyone made an effort to self-police our
selves in the use of capital ships, and set a better example to those that just have them because they can,
for no other reason than to have a BIG ship ...

Hoodlum
You are very right on all counts Hoodlum, and thank you.:)
The self-policing works and SHOULD have been going on in all factions but unfortunately has not.
TBH, GoR, AW, RHA(New, but also has strict policies on caps), RM and a few other factions I can't think of right now are very good at policing their cap ship use. That should be evidence enough right there.
---
I would like to add however that I personally feel that cap ship abuse should be met with severe punishment (as I've said several times already) up to and beyond deletion of the cap.
What I was saying is that I would be happy to go through a player wipe, not advertising one and trying to convince everyone thats needed. If one were to happen, i would support it, but Im not gonna go out of my way to make it happen.
I am still in the (small) camp saying that the admins have control over the battleship licenses. This is the only way to make capship whoring (or rather, battleship whoring) a thing of the past. Good RP would be needed, along with a viable reason why you need it. If this was the case, don't restrict them to factions, as there are independant battleships who have good RP (Harbinger/Treewyrm for instance). Just make it hard for people to get them, in a way that they cant cheat the system. The only way to do this in my eyes is admin aproval (OR rather, people like fellow hoodlum going over RP and the like, so the admins only have to put it on the ship, rather than the admin doing the consultation...)
Other factions with strict capital ship rules include SCRA, QCP (Cap-ships aren't allowed, except GBs... and only rarely), SA (ex-cap-whores) and others.
It annoys me to see folk flying battleships as if they are some kind of status-symbol. Smack them down, I say!
About BS in the hands of little, pitty independants. If you were part of house government would you gave the permission to a privateer to cross the colony with a powerful instrument of destruction, which is not under your control and a possible threat to the colony?
I would but before entering the colony this privateer has to demount all the weapons and would be escorted by police or military always.
There must be implemented a way to simulate the enormous costs of maintenance for a capship.
Ok, it seems that nobody takes heed on my opinions... I think we need some more admins, and 1 single new rule: 1 bs per player. The other thing is: if you increase the price, ppl will still get the ship. Implement cargo license is also wrong. If you respawn in some corner of the galaxy (a Freeport for example) and you can't get a License in time? You get fined for nothing. Either way, if that happens, I will keep a few more credits to purchase one each time I die. The only thing we can do about it is to stop folks of doing new stupid factions. Like, someone creates a new Outcast faction, and comes with 12 battleships. I'd vote for 1 clan/npc faction. The existing ones, either change affiliation, or vanish. I can't see the sense for a Navy faction to have 2 bs, and some corsair clan to have 6 or more. About Freelancers: they should be allowed to fly what ship they want, but still, 1 bs per player. They should be strong, but rare. Pricing won't do it; only rules will force to keep the numbers down. And a few more admins, to reinforce this problem. The existing players with 15 accounts and 20 battleships should have a 2 weeks term to get rid of all their battleships, but 1. That will decrease ppl intentions to have a lot of accounts. Again, a player wipe: I totally disagree with that. I already invested a lot in my ships, and even more on the clan I am surely part of. And I am not showing off. But it's a bit stupid to know that all my work for this community was for nothing.
Players owning multiple battleships is not a problem in my opinion. After all, they can only fly one ship at a time (Unless they have multiple machines and are very talented)
1 battleship per player is NOT a good idea, even by eliminating mutliple battleships you still aren't going to make them more rare. It just wont work that way simply because, every "1 player, with 1 bs" is going to fly their BS if that's what they want to fly.
I am a former Battleship whore (I won't say former cap ship cuz I still fly gunboats, religiously) and I know (and ask any veteran player here) that reducing the amount of caps per player is not going to make them more rare.... People like me would just pick the one that suits their taste the best and delete the rest. (Did I just rhyme?)
Anyways my 2 cents on that rule. It was an OK idea, props for trying.

You can't combine the two. You either make the license purchasable at any dock + non-lootable + very expensive, or you make it indestructable and put it in a logical location like the ship builder's home base.
1 BS per player is a reasonably good idea. This would at least cause Player A to have just 1 BS in his favorite faction only. So if he joins another faction he won't be flying a BS there. Many of us belong to more than one faction.
